Guest guest
Some great pics from Beaconsfield Primary School in Australia if you click on the link below. Truly not bad from these kids. Intro: BEACONSFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL As a part of looking at the culture of India and the presence of religious symbols in everyday life, the Year 7 students investigated literature on the various creation stories about Ganesh, stylised and colourful posters and cards, and looked at images of statues, shrines and bas relief carvings. We also looked carefully at the characteristics of an Indian elephant. We then had to carefully consider how to "humanise" his facial features to correctly represent his godlike form. All this information came together in our first sketch drawings. http://www.beacy.wa.edu.au/art/ganesh/ganesh.html/Do You ? Guest guest
Wow! SY, Not only do the drawings and sculptures look GREAT but the feeling I get from this unit is that the children truly enjoyed it. They seemed to create the images w some sense of devotion or enthusiasm. I would love to see this in an American school. It doesn't have to be a Ganesh project per se, but just one where YOU CAN TELL THE CHILDREN DELIGHTED IN LEARNING SOMETHING as they ENJOYED CREATING. That seems to be the case as I view these objects. I am feeling a sincerity and connexion in the work. Thanks for sharing. I actually want to study the drawings as they will help me draw better Ganesh images in the future.
