Bells Revisited

Dear All,

Bells. They were under discussion here a month ago or so, and we

moved on....

Yogananda, in his lengthy commentary to the BHAGAVAD GITA, says that

AUM is "heard" in the various chakras differently: in the base

chakra, as the buzzing of bees; in the 6th chakra as flutes; in the

5th (solar plexus) as harps (I expect he really meant sitars but,

apres tout, it was the USA in the 1930's and no one knew from sitars

then); in the heart chakra, as bells; in the throat chakra as the

ocean's roar...at the third eye a symphony of all these sounds.

I had just loaded up the ol' word processor to drop a note to

someone when I got BUZZED (1st chakra?) to send out the bell-

information to OM Ganesh, so here it is.

Yogananda also says that the true fire ceremony is the rising of the

kundalini....you do the math.

While I have reservations about his work, which I think was

constricted by the provincial piety that retarded the American

spiritual milieu in which he had to work, I have no reservations

regarding his power. I once met a highly developed medium, the real

thing, who was spiritually developed as well as psychically. Her

best friend had been a devotee of Yogananda. One year she

received, in New York, from a psychic artist somewhere way up north

in Canada, a portrait of Yogananda. He had appeared to the artist

and requested that she create this portrait and send it to his

devotee, giving enough of an address that the person's mailing

address could be found.

The painter made the portrait and sent it away.

The kicker is that it arrived on the devotee's birthday!!!

Anyway, back to the buzzing and bells and resultant symphony -

Ganesha residing in the base chakra, there must be a bit more to

his being Lord of Music than we presently suspect.

All be well,

Scott
