In thanks, I thought that I'd share the image of Padmasambhava that appears

above my major home-shrine. It is Padmasambhava entering his Rainbow Body (an

event far beyond my imagination whereby one's physical body is so energized

that it becomes pure energies).

I attach a picture of another thanka, very, very similar to mine. Beneath this

image I keep a 14" Shiva-lingam, a very elegant Padmasambhava rupa and an very,

very old Indian image of Ganesh with trunk twisting left (tantrics will

understand this).

For those innocent of Padmasambhava I attach a more usual image.

Thank you,

Scott

Sidebar to Aquesa & Sy: I have created two separate versions of the Tarot major

trumps. I have destroyed both. They were inadequate. However: were I to

retry a rendition of the Magician, I would use Rainbow Padmasambhava as the

base image.

Ravi Shankar said somewhere that it takes at least three incarnations to become

a competent sitar player...I wonder how many are required to empower one to

render a truly spiritual Tarot...I do know that the final trump, The World,

would be rendered via the base image of the two-sexed Shiva/Shakti.

Sorry, no picture and I do not own a camera. It looks pretty much

like all the other lingams except the red "splash", while a well

behaved horizontal oval on one side, on the other looks for all the

world like Merlin (Shiva?) madly dancing. Besides this I own one

small lingam, about the size of half a thumb, which I often carry

around in a medicine bag.

I once knew of a collection of perhaps 12 or 14 large lingams, which

the owner would arrange in a circle, sort of like Stonehenge.

Together they created an energy field impossible to ignore. Do you

ever grid yours up like this?

I have always treated this lingam like a special, special sacred

stone but I have never attempted to replicate the Indian forms of

veneration. This one gets rubbed with marble polish to keep it in

good shape and, now and again, I dump a very fine essential oil of

rose on it to keep its vibes high. It sits atop an African bracelet

made of stone...and has a swatch of black silk for a robe...Ganesh

seems real content to sit by its side. Sometimes I put it outside

for a few days, to let the sunlight and wind and rain and earth

invigorate it...
