Not necessarily human-sized. He rides on a rat. I"d rather NOT imagine

a rat that a human-sized being could ride! Like all beings in Deva-loka,

Ganesha's size is variable, he rides giggling on an electron, and the

apparent expansion of the universe is his belly making room for more

sweets.

Just as Agni (Fire) can burn in many places and still be the same being,

Ganesha is encoded in every (human) nervous system. That's why rapping

one's own temples and tugging one's earlobes will stimulate him.

Ideally, the most perfect <murthi> of Ganesha is the one each being

installs in his/her heart.

The Shaktis are the <energies> of the deities, which manifest them

immanently in the world of form. The deities are transcendental

potentialities, inaccessible without their Shaktis. Traditionally,

Shaktis are potrayed as female, so the feminine ending is more

appropriate (<Parameshwar-i>).

The exception is Ganesha, often seen as an "honorary Shakti" because he

deputises for Parvati, and is seen as the Power (Shakti) to Begin Again.

The other Primordial Shaktis are Jnana Shakti (the Power to Know); Iccha

Shakti (the Power to Will); Kriya Shakti (the Power to Act); and Shanta

Shakti (the Power to Make Peace). There are other Shaktis, but they

aren't Primordial.

What appears to be outside is just the reflection of Samsara.

> I enjoyed your colorful metaphors, nice. You know, I was onced asked by a

friend of mine about Ganesha. This friend happened to be an architect and

designer. I told him that Ganesha is the first move and the first substance of

manifest Reality. Ganesh can be thought of as the blueprint and design of the

fabric of existence. He is Beginnings, Dharma, auspiciousness, and the

consequesnces of not realizing them. He is the first primal move of manifest

Reality, which is why he is narrated in stories as the 'first born' son of

SHiva and Parvati. The other Primordial Shaktis are Jnana Shakti (the Power to

They are not primordial in action, but it must be understood that the primordial

is inherent in every atom and every moment. The Heart is everywhere, manifest

reality and the shakti chakra are in non difference with the Supreme just as

the waves, though they may take a definite shape and form, are nothing but
