Guest guest
I somewhere have read a story that Lord Ganesh has done a vow of celibacy, because one time his mother Parvati has told him that all women are but fractions of fractions of her, and that whatever he does to any woman, he does to her. So he came to the conclusion that having sex with a female, he in fact would have sex with his own mother, therefore he took that vow. However, I also have read that Lord Ganesh has two wifes, namely Riddhi and Siddhi. So what is true? Regards, Alexandra
Guest guest
Hi Alex, What u r saying is right on my point of view also. bcz of he is seeing his mother on all the women he had taken the vow of not getting married. And also he has two wives namely Siddhi and Buddhi. Siddhi and Buddhi are the descriptions of the mind. It is really a women. For the description of the things they treated it as the shape of a women. ( This is clearly explained in the vinayagar puranam ). He is not married any girl. Comments are welcome. with Regards, NT.RAMESH - Alexandra Kafka Friday, February 28, 2003 11:34 PM wifes of Lord Ganesh I somewhere have read a story that Lord Ganesh has done a vow of celibacy, because one time his mother Parvati has told him that all women are but fractions of fractions of her, and that whatever he does to any woman, he does to her. Guest guest
All of it is true. Hinduism believes in alternate universes, different stories exist in different time lines, within different incarnations. His two wives are alternatively called Buddhi and Siddhi. There are also stories that Ganesha is married to Lakshmi (implying that he's an avatar of Vishnu), or to Sarasvati (implying that he's a form of Brahma), or to a goddess named Pushti-devi... Generally, Ganesha is thought of as married in North India, and as a "bachelor" in South India. But there are exceptions. Interestingly, his brother Skanda is seen as celibate in North India, and married (to Valli and Devasena) in South India. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Fri, 28 Feb 2003 19:04:20 +0100 "Alexandra Kafka" <alexandra.kafka writes: > I somewhere have read a story that Lord Ganesh has done a vow of > celibacy, because one time his mother Parvati has told him that all > women are but fractions of fractions of her, and that whatever he > does to any woman, he does to her. > So he came to the conclusion that having sex with a female, he in > fact would have sex with his own mother, therefore he took that vow. > > However, I also have read that Lord Ganesh has two wifes, namely > Riddhi and Siddhi. > So what is true? > > Regards, > Alexandra ______________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month!
