To get to Gaya (town), there is a train from Patna - about 75 miles. Very hot in

Patna, about 115 degrees centigrade. I was in Patna in my youth and can only

remember the dust and how hot it was as well as the 'airport' of the time which

was a small building with a tin roof and rickshaws outside. The airport was

virtually a deserted place. Many places in India have had their names changed

and I haven't really caught up with the new names other than Mumbai and

Chennai. Not sure if they changed the name for Patna. I didn't visit Bodh

Gaya. It is not a fictional place. In fact the Dalai Lama himself went there

on pilgrimage. He also went to Benares of course, amongst many other holy

places. Here is a link for you to see a picture of Tibetans under a bodhi

tree: http://www.sacredsites.com/1st30/buddhist.html

Yes, a family deity is from generation to generation. In some cases, there are

'family gurus' although individuals like husbands, wives and children can have

their own respective gurus.

Wonderful to hear about the concert! We have yet to have a throat-singing

concert in Australia, I've never seen one so you are very lukcy!! There must

be some truth in what you mentioned about this bringing good health and

spiritual growth. All forms of singing are therapeutic. Hopefully one day

experts will research throat-singing. Keep up with the harmonics and keep us

posted!!

Love,

Sy

Hello SYji!Yes, the place is called Bodhi Gaya but I thought that was not the

name of the town nearby, just the name of the site in buddhist texts only...not

a geographical name...But I will chek it thanks!!!!Okey I will ask the indian

restaurant friend for his family deity...how does someone know wich is their

family deity? is it because it is passed on from generation to generation?Yes

throat singing Tuva, mongolians, shamans, Bons I love all that don´t ask me

why...I discovered it in this lifetime tree years ago when accidentaly I bumped

into an advertisement of a concert of Sainkho a world famous tuvan singer. I was

astonished listening to her and since then I´ve been interested in learning

harmonics sounds and overtones. It is very pleasurable to sing them and some

people consider it brings good health benefits and even spiritual growth but

there is some kind of debate on that matter. (i´ve been asking questions on the

spiritual values of throat singing in a quite serious throat singing forum and

they seem to focus exclusively in the musical aspect of this vocal technique.

So I think I am bein a wierdo asking there LOL )...It is good to clean the

lungs from the rest of tobacco though!!!! Neighbours haven´t said anything yet.

Besides they arent home when I sing so that´s ok. These days I am singing a lot,

perhaps I need it. If not, before, I had almost forgotten the harmonics and

hardly singed them since 2 years...so it is good to return to this

practice.Hugs!!!!Barbara

Hello Syji!

Really thanks a lot for all the information you share with me-us I feel

it comes with love from your heart! I´ve saved the info on Gaya and

Patna for the future trip....

Yes, I would love to be more involved in harmonics and healing sounds

....I like it trully. I just bought a great record produced by Peter

Gabriel with harmonics and throat singing from Tuva. it is called

Shu-de, a Womad Production for Realworld, if you are interested.

Another tuvan good music group is Huun Huur Tu., in Amazon.com you can

even download for free a 12 minute song of them very beautiful and

meditative...

the song is called Odugen Taiga.mp3 ....

By the way, I have heard that in India there is a yoga dealing with

sound it is called Nada Yoga...have you heard of it? I will make a

check on the net see what can I find...

Lots of love

Barbara
