Guest guest
VALGA VALAMUDAN Dear Syzenith and all, Happy to see ur mail. I really got glad that u have pointed out many of the things abt our Tamil Nadu. Tamil nadu has very antiant civilization. U can see many olden days traditions are following here. As we are staying here since we born, we are not having any surprising on this. when u people are telling abt our state, we are really getting happy abt it. Here many temples are there. For each and every street atleast one small temple will be there. Mostly it will be Ganesh temple. In my town atleast some 20 to 30 ganesh temples are there. ( Most of them are small one ). Apart from this some of the big house ( like Bangalow ) and in some hospitals they will also have a separate temples on inside of their compound. In general, many towns are developed on near to the temples. Say for example, My native is "Thiruvannamalai". This city is been developed on surrounding to the "Easwar" Temple ( Annamalaiyar , who is the father to Lord Ganesh ). Many of our big temples we will have an elephant ( more than one also there ). On every morning, after doing the bath to this elephant, (The Elephant) will bring the "Punitha neer" ( Water for Abisheka [i dont know how to say in english] ). With that they will do the Abishekam to the lord Easwer. Hindus religious animals are Cow. We are also keeping a cow inside the temple, for doing the pooja. Everyday on 4.00AM the "Komadha Pooja" ( pooja to cow) will be held inside the temple. There are lot and lot of traditional following of poojas and special events are there on each and every temples ( here I mean some important temples in India ). Thanks for given the time to sharing of my thoughts with u all. by NT. Ramesh. - Syzenith Thursday, April 17, 2003 3:19 AM Deities & Leaves Vanakam Ramesh,Nice to see you around! Thanks for telling about deity pictures, banana leaves and Panai Ollai. I've just read Ram's message and realise it is Mango leaves (thank you Ram). It's great to know that some houses in India have deity pictures built into the door. I haven't seen one like that in Australia. It sounds wonderful to be able to have a deity in the door. Two of my friends visited Tamil Nadu (Chennai and some other places) recently. They came back and said it is paradise! They want to go back again next year. They were told me about a special elephant outside a temple which kissed their Yantra with the trunk as they left. They have many happy memories of your beautiful State and the people they met.Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah,Sy, "T Ramesh" <tramesh@o...> wrote:> Hi Sy, > > It is usually keeping god on infrontof the house (entrance of the house). This is good for the people who are living in the house. They can have any type of daitees pictures. In our nation (India) some of the houses may built in the type of keeping the god in the door by errected on the door itself. When the functions / festivals are happening people will keep some types of the leaves on top of the door. In my states (Tamil Nadu) its is Banana leaves and "panai Ollai leaves" I dont know the name in english. Both has some reason. Mostly people are saying that it is the symbol or good sign to know that in that house some good festival / function is happening. > > with regards,> NT.RAMESHTo from this group, send an email to:-http://www.geocities.com/aumganesh/ Your use of is subject to the
Guest guest
Vanakam Ramesh, Nice to see your message! Glad to know you are happy. Thanks for telling us more about Tamil Nadu, your hometown Thiruvannamalai, the temples and puja. It is a very fascinating place. My friends who visited your state has not stopped talking about it. They are now working very hard to save money so they can return to Tamil Nadu to stay longer next time. They love your country's culture, food, people and everything in Tamil Nadu. They said they were treated very well and Indians are very kind. They also studied the Tirukural in South India. Please tell us more and share your thoughts, comments, experiences and anything you wish. It is a pleasure to see your messages any time.
