Guest guest
Vanakam Ramesh, Nice to see you around! Thanks for telling about deity pictures, banana leaves and Panai Ollai. I've just read Ram's message and realise it is Mango leaves (thank you Ram). It's great to know that some houses in India have deity pictures built into the door. I haven't seen one like that in Australia. It sounds wonderful to be able to have a deity in the door. Two of my friends visited Tamil Nadu (Chennai and some other places) recently. They came back and said it is paradise! They want to go back again next year. They were told me about a special elephant outside a temple which kissed their Yantra with the trunk as they left. They have many happy memories of your beautiful State and the people they met. This is good for the people who are living in the house. They can have any type of daitees pictures. In our nation (India) some of the houses may built in the type of keeping the god in the door by errected on the door itself. When the functions / festivals are happening people will keep some types of the leaves on top of the door. In my states (Tamil Nadu) its is Banana leaves and "panai Ollai leaves" I dont know the name in english. Both has some reason. Mostly people are saying that it is the symbol or good sign to know that in that house some good festival / function is happening. > > with regards, > NT.RAMESH
