I search for information about the possibility for women in the Hindu tradition

to live an ascetic life.

Are there monasteries for women?

Hi Alexandra,

Never heard of women who live ascetic lives in the Hindu Tradition as

such. However, there are some reclusive places in India where women

are known to be ascetics. I heard of a group in South India who

worship Kali Ma in the form of Ambika (and possible Lalitha). Sorry

I can't remember the exact location of the monastery or what its name

is. It is definitely of the Tantric Tradition.
