My name is Keri and I have been worshipping Ganesh for 3 years. I have recently started going to Hindu temples, and I was even lucky enough to visit the temple in Flushing NY that is dedicated to Ganesh, I will be returning there this year. I have bought some books about Hinduism, I want to learn as much as I can. I live near Tampa Florida, and I have been looking to meet someone to go to the temple with me to explain the services to me. I would like to make some friends that enjoy talking about Ganesh. I visited all of the Indian stores in my area and bought some wonderful items for my Ganesh altar, everyone was so friendly and helpful. I also relatively recently found this group I live in a western suburb of Philadelphia, and I have been a devotee of Lord Ganesh since the late 70's with varying devotional attention. I had some transformational experience while doing Puja to Ganesh at the old Shankaracharya Ashram in the Pocono's during the mid 80's. That Murti has been moved to Rochester when a different group took over the Ashram/Temple. I have visited the Temple in Flushing frequently, since it is about three hours from my home. I do not know the attraction that Ganesh holds for me but I have found that the mantra Ohm Gam Ganapataye Namaha is very helpful to me. I was so glad to find this group. As a westerner I feel somewhat alienated at the temples, but people always treat me well and are polite, if somewhat curious.
