Guest guest
Hi Aaron, Well you can worship the Ganesh idol in any other place , only on consultation of the the pundit as he can recommend you the best place in your house depending upon the directions ( East-West, North-south, etc) But most preferred direction is the idol should face the East. Guest guest
If the Ganesh idol faces the North, his back is to the South (i.e., he can be imagined "holding back" the Ganas (who come out of the South) from their mischief-making tactics. At the Ganesh Temple in Flushing, NY, the main Ganesh idol faces East. North (for Peace) and East (for Power) are the two most auspicious directions to face (when meditating, for example). West (for Material Goods) and South (for Black Magic) are considered inauspicious. Guest guest
If Ganesh faces North, doesn't that mean that we are facing South during worship? Is this good? - kalipadma (AT) juno (DOT) com Tuesday, September 07, 2004 7:24 PM Re: Ganesh Chaturthi question If the Ganesh idol faces the North, his back is to the South (i.e., hecan be imagined "holding back" the Ganas (who come out of the South) fromtheir mischief-making tactics. At the Ganesh Temple in Flushing, NY, the main Ganesh idol faces East.
