Symposium Dates: Friday and Saturday, October 14-15, 2005

 

Symposium Speakers Include:

 

Hon. Robert G. Klein, associate justice of the Hawai'i Supreme Court from

1992-2000, and currently in private practice, authored the landmark decisions

on Native Hawaiian traditional and customary rights.

 

Hon. Joe Williams, Chief Judge of the Maori Land Court and Chair of the Waitangi

Tribunal, is an internationally recognized expert in indigenous rights law and

has been instrumental in insuring that Maori value systems are acknowledged in

the Aotearoa-New Zealand judicial system.

 

Heather Kendall-Miller, a senior staff attorney in the Anchorage, Alaska, office

of the Native American Rights Fund, was instrumental in winning the Katie John

case, the important subsistence hunting and fishing rights case for Alaskan

Natives.
