Now you can take a part of Indian culture with convenient meditation

kits

Avantika Bhuyan

Pune, February 2: The minute you enter Natraj Stationery Store in

Clover Centre, a beautifully packaged meditation kit catches your

eye. You can't help but explore its contents, which include the

Bhagvad Gita, Sri Sooktha booklet, 20 incense sticks, four Pancha

Patras and nine other items which are considered the essential tools

for spiritual awakening. Priced at Rs 895, the kit is part of Vedic

Cosmos, a sub-brand of Nightingale, which is a manufacturer of

premium stationery products and writing books.

Launched in December 2004, Vedic Cosmos pays a tribute to the long

standing traditions of the Vedic civilisation. The various kits like

Sacred Scents, Sri Yantra and Temples of India educate the customer

about the civilisation's sophisticated theological understanding and

its customs. The Vedic symbols, colours and motifs have been employed

in a fresh style combined with the art of G L N Simha, whose painting

tradition originates from the Vijayanagar Kingdom and has been under

the patronage of the Mysore Wodeyar royal family for centuries.

The Vedic Cosmos products are essentially targeted at Non Resident

Indians (NRIs) and foreigners as they are interested in taking a part

of the traditional Indian culture back home. "Srinivas Fine Arts

Private Limited which owns the brand Nightingale has nine branches

all over the country. Since Vedic Cosmos has a niche range of

products, it is not available in many stores," says Mahendra

Khairnar, senior business development executive, Pune.

In Pune itself, the products are available in six shops like

Crossword, Venus Traders, Dhabolkar and Natraj. But are the sales

encouraging? According to Khairnar, the sales have been increasing

each year, especially Sri Yantra priced at Rs 178, which is a

supremely auspicious geometrical representation of powers, potencies

and energies of goddess Lakshmi. It is the best selling product of

the entire Vedic Cosmos range.
