Guest guest
Terrorist Atrocities Continue in Nepal TERRORISTS have once again shown their true face by attacking and killing innocent civilians in different parts of the country. Only recently, the terrorists attacked Malangawa, the headquarters of Sarlahi district, but our brave security personnel foiled their sinister attempts and protected the lives and property of the people. If the security forces had not been active and alert, the terrorists would have caused more damage to people?s property. For this, the security forces deserve commendation. The terrorists have been restoring to killing, kidnapping and intimidating people despite their so-called claim of carrying out activities in the interest of the people. The only objective of the terrorists is to achieve their sinister goal by terrorising people and destroying public property. So the ongoing terrorism must be condemned by all, and there should be a collective endeveour to fight against terrorism. Only then can democracy be safeguarded, human rights and the rule of law maintained and national interest protected. National unity and solidarity are, thus, needed at this crucial juncture, which alone can serve our broader national interest. At a time when the terrorists are launching their brutal attack against the state, some political parties have forged an alliance with them. This is against the national interest of Nepal. The intention of the terrorists is clear, as they want to create chaos and anarchy in the country. The brutal attack in Malangawa is a testimony of the sinister design and motive of the terrorists. Now all other political forces must be alert against the design of the terrorists. The unholy alliance between the terrorists and the seven political parties has given recognition to the terrorists and further encouraged them to carry out terrorist activities against humanity, democracy and civic culture. The seven political parties need to realise this fact and break their relationship with the terrorists. The time has come for the political parties either to endorse the activities being carried out by the terrorists or condemn them. There is no third choice. They have to make a decision: either they should support them or condemn them. Against this background, Minister of State for Information and Communication Shrish Sumsher Rana has rightly observed that the Maoists are terrorists and that they have not abandoned the path of violence and terrorism. As the Maoists continue with their terrorist activities, the alliance between the terrorists and the seven political parties is also a tactical move to further consolidate the strength of the terrorists. And in this, the implication of the seven parties is clear. http://www.gorkhapatra.org.np/pageloader.php? file=2006/04/08/editorial/editorial3
