Unrest is widely prevalent amongst nations, societies, families, and individuals. There is more necessity of peace than ever before. Vedic temple propagates the message of world peace through the ancient practice of Agnihotram or Yajnya. Because the magnitude of problem is enormous, therefore, we have taken upon ourselves the honorable task of performing Mahayajnya at the Vedic Temple premises. A special two-hour session of religious performances and discourses by eminent personalities of North America is the highlight of this Mahayajnya to foster amity, brotherhood and world peace. It is a unique opportunity for everyone to share in the uplift of Atmic (spiritual) force and to feel blessed like never before. In the words of Shatapatha Brahmana "Yajnyo vai shrestatamam karma," all beneficial/benevolent actions are Yajnya. According to Acharya Panini, there are several meanings of the word Yajnya: Yajnya is not a sacrifice as Western and Europeans scholars have referred. The worship of God, to be associated with benevolent cause for the benefit of humanity at large, and to donate for a good cause or benevolence is real Yajnya. >From time immemorial, great Yajnya have been an inseparable part of Hindu Dharma. Since ancient time, various great Yajnyas have not only been mentioned, but also glorified and praised. Among them, two well known Yajnyas were the Ashwamedha and Rajasuya. They were conducted not only for peace and prosperity of their subjects but also for the purity of the entire cosmic region. Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati (founder of Arya Samaj) rejuvenated the Vedic Yajnya tradition for this modern age. The Vedas are the true source of knowledge that are revealed to mankind by God in his every creation. Yajnya cannot be performed without the proper recital of Vedic hymns. The pronunciation of these hymns illuminates one's soul and empowers his connection between nature and God; therefore this is a Punya Karma -a divine, pious action. The Yajurveda Mahayajnya will give all participants the opportunity to get a glimpse of our enriched ancient Hindu heritage. With the recital of selected Yajurvedic hymns, this Yajnya will be conducted in the same manner as in ancient times. It will create the environment of a Rishi's age-old ashram. The main purpose of this Mahayajnya is to strengthen one's physical, mental, and spiritual power, which ultimately leads to universal peace and prosperity. The herbal ingredients offered into the sacred fire have the capacity and power to purify the entire atmosphere. In this industrialized, progressive yet polluted age, this is a most scientific remedy. The more it is performed in mass assembly, the more benefits it provides for our future generations and us. Mahayajnya delivers the message of peace and harmony amongst the diverse cultures of metro Atlanta. The tolerance of Hindu civilization has contributed peaceful co-existence amongst various sections of the society giving birth to non-violence movements throughout the world. Mahayajnya can deliver the same message of tolerance and peaceful co-existence to the masses. Therefore, Vedic temple is undertaking this unique performance of peace Yajna.
