Since Caropb posted the above, I'd like to just say how much I appreciate

the set of exercises posted on the web site. My KY experience has been a

three day, one-half-hour a mourning impromtu crash course followed by a year

of practice on my own. When I found the set on the web, it reminded me of

several details I had dropped from my initial instruction. At least

two-thirds of the set is identical to the set I was taught. I know the web

site material to be authentic and valuable. I have reccomended teh site to

friends. Thank you for this gift.

Hi. Thank you for the welcome to the list. My name is Devta Kaur (given to

me by Yogi Bhajan). I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga and Meditation for

4 /12 years. In the spring of 1998, I became a Level I Certified Instructor

and am also a member of IKYTA. I have been teaching since September, 1998,

although I will only be teaching one class during the summer months. I am

currently without a teacher myself, as mine moved out of state. I am in the

process of locating another teacher. I look forward to the list and the

learning and sharing of views.

Hi Devta

Welcome to Kundaliniyoga. I am sure that your knowledge and experience will

find good use around here. We have a lot of novices and beginners among our

rs, but they are all keen to learn more about KY. I would include

myself in that category too, btw!

If you have anything that you would like to share with us at any time, tips

to pass on, advice on various aspects of KY, etc, please post. Were you at

the Solstice

Camp last week, for example? If so, I'm sure a lot of folk would like to

hear a bit about it.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time with us.

Hello, Greetings and Namaste:

My name is Zenbob and have practiced Prana and Rajah Yoga since the age of

thirteen. Being 45, I suppose that's a little while. Enjoy many aspects of

Buddhist, Hindu, Taoist, Sufi and Zen teaching and philosophy.

Kundalini is now a discipline that I use to maintain vitality, health,

awareness and strength as needed. Rarely have sudden or unpredictable side

effects or strange bursts of Chakra flooding, etc., often mentioned by

students who start with exercises and find that they are unprepared for the

power of K. Discipline, focus, intent are my safe guards.

I write poetry, short stories, and am working on a Novel. I am an editor,

technical instructor and design and build harmonious music devices, such as

Loudspeakers, Amplifiers and am working on clay flute designs currently.

Will keep everyone posted.

Also, I have great love for animals, have sled dogs (4), cats, chinchillas,

goats, sheep, horse and Llama.

Blessings

Love.

Salutations,

My name is Chris and I am attempting a return to Kundalini and its shining

disciplines after an extended period wandering off the path, deluded and

confused. At one time I was reaping the wonderful benefits of the practice,

attending regular classes under the tuteledge of one Yogi Ji. I hungrily

absorbed the daily affirmations, incorporated the diet suggestions into my

routine, dug the physiological effects of the different, specific krias (sp?)

and walked around nearly levitating, feeling better than I can ever remember...

Feeling maybe too good. In my state of good health and self assurance, I forgot

what it was that had brought me to this estuary of peace, discipline and

balance. Maybe in my svelted bliss I even began to arrogantly take the credit

for this heightened state of awareness. Eventually I dropped the discipline.

Now, after my misguided sojourn, I suffer afflictions common to modern material

living: urban malaise, affluenza, metropolitis. I worry that I may not be able

to regain the well being I once enjoyed. I must confront and eschew the many

things that will tempt me and it is difficult here in Las Vegas to find the

necessary support network that can encourage me to stay the course. It is to

this end that I to this list.

I hope that I can be an asset to this community in return.

Sat Nam,

Dear Chris,

I really appreciate your sincere letter about your experiences with

Kundalini yoga and wanting now to get back with the practice. I hope you

keep us updated with your experiences in the future. This is very valuable

information for those who are just beginning their practice.

I have a feeling you will regain it and surpass it. Yogi Bhajan told us

once, proabably more than once, you don't start over, you just keep going.

I suggest taking in one or more White Tantric Yoga Courses this fall. That

will be a big boost.

I am new to this list and am wondering about the volume of e-mails that

are generally output, as I've receive so many, and many with worthwhile

and valuable information.]

I do have a question regarding TM as a meditation practice while doing K

yoga. I have recently begun K yoga practice but have practiced TM for 7

years now. Someone who I spoke to who is a regular practitioner of K

yoga and formerly of TM told me she found it too difficult to do both,

energetically. Any thoughts on this subject or information would be

appreciated.

Thanks,

I learnt TM in 1973 and practised it on and off for many years. It led to a K

awakening in 1989

I'd advise you to find a book on Mantra Yoga and check out which chakras your

TM mantra have been energising/vibrating. These may by now be over-energised

compared with the others . . . These were the ones that (in theory) your TM

teacher attuned to in giving you a mantra seven years ago, but probably told

you nothing about Mantra Yoga principles nor what your particular sounds were

doing to you. First find out what you've been doing all these years, before

taking another step.

I too would say drop TM practice if you start K practice. K is QUITE powerful

enough without any adjunct, and to awaken it in a balanced way first means

purification of your whole system. Adding a TM mantra on top of K yoga would

be very unbalanced, in my view. Wait until K is stable, before cautiously

experimenting to see what effect the TM mantra has (or had). You would be far

more sensitised to this once K is awakened.

You were wise to ask first. . . Gabriel

Sat Nam,

Thank you for sharing about your Kundalini experiences. And thanks to the

others who have responded to this letter. Yogi Bhajan says that if we

practice the asanas and the pranayama exercises that he teaches us our

nervous system will get strong and we will be able avoid some of the

challenging experiences that you have had.

If you do feel inclined to practice some of these exercises that we will be

sharing in our KYTraining, it might help you and we would certainly be

grateful for a report on the effects that you experience.

Yes, it is simple. They are actually ascii codes for punctuation marks - the

codes are not translated correctly by some mail programs and are printed out

as they are sent. Ignore them - the rest should then make sense.

Dear Yogis,

Thank you to Gordon and Zenbob and RAttana for always responding so

quickly to my questions. I am a few weeks new to this list.

How do I obtain the lessons I see referred to frequently in these

e-mails?

Also, I am very interested in learning more about white Tantra and its

connection to K. I am finding that K is also at times making me feel

very tired the next day, and there are certain postures which cause me

to feel a pain in the left side of my chest, not in the heart, but to

the left of the very center, what is sometimes referred to as the thymus

gland area. What is the sensation of pain about, if you know? And why

do I feel tired sometimes the day following doing K, especially after

sets with a lot of breath of fire? Am I "downloading" stress. What are

some good books available on white Tantra and K? I have read Miranda

Shaw's Passionate Enlightenment, which deal with Tantra, but I am

particulary intrigued by it in connection with K. Any info would be

appreciated.

Also, another physical sensation I have been experiencing is during the

gong portion of the class, at times my whole body becomes like a live

wire, and I literally am twitching like a fish out of water. What does

this mean?

Thanks, And Sat Nam!

Dear Gina,

> How do I obtain the lessons I see referred to frequently in these

> e-mails?

The first three classes are available by going to

http://www.gtmark.com/ky/classes.htm

You will find clickable links near the top of the page.

And related, the first issue of my newsletter which contains the article

about the August 11th, 1999 Solar Eclipse is available at

nmb01.html

The second issue on Virgo's Perfectionism is at

nmb02.html

The third issue on After the Eclipse is at

nmb03.html

These all have related KY material in them.

>

> Also, I am very interested in learning more about white Tantra and its

> connection to K.

White Tantric is lead by Yogi Bhajan in specific courses and is the

cleansing of the subconscious mind through the balancing of male female

polarities. People sit in long lines, men and women facing and we do the

exercises that Yogi Bhajan gives us. I wrote about this in Lesson One of

KYTraining--see above. This cleansing process facilitates the Kundalini

process.

Details can probably be gotten on the 3HO website.

I am finding that K is also at times making me feel

> very tired the next day,

This could be a variety of things. You could be cleansing which is a normal

reaction. Drink plenty of water. Also make sure that you inhale enough and

inhale into your kidneys which will make your back expand. If you only

inhale in the lower abdomen or upper chest the kidneys can get stressed.

and there are certain postures which cause me

> to feel a pain in the left side of my chest, not in the heart, but to

> the left of the very center, what is sometimes referred to as the thymus

> gland area. What is the sensation of pain about, if you know?

Could be opening of the heart center. I have had students with this symptom

and after a few weeks it went a way and they could feel their hearts open.

And why

> do I feel tired sometimes the day following doing K, especially after

> sets with a lot of breath of fire? Am I "downloading" stress.

Definitely one possibility. Feel the breath massage the kidneys.

What are

> some good books available on white Tantra and K?

There are no books on White Tantric Yoga as lead by Yogi Bhajan. To make

all these classifications clear, Yogi Bhajan calls White Tantric the

subconscious cleansing that only one Master at a time is assigned to do. He

did not volunteer. He was choosen. One day he woke up and found out he got

the assignment.

Red Tantric is sexual tantra. Black tantra is black magic. (not

recommended)

I have read Miranda

> Shaw's Passionate Enlightenment, which deal with Tantra,

I think that is a great book!

but I am

Energy readjusting, nervous system balancing are two possibilities.

Good day all.

My name is Gloria and I live in Canton, Ohio, having needed to come back

to my hometown after the passing of my spouse and to await the

subsequent birth of my daughter. I have practiced Hatha Yoga for a few

years and was introduced to Kundalini yoga by picking up a book in a

Chicago bookstore (Transitions). Most recent I was browsing in Borders

and found a Chakra Yoga tape. I practiced it once and felt like I was

19 again! I loved the breathing techniques, the mantras and the poses.

I am looking to reawaken all my chakras to promote the health, balance

and stillness I had achieved when I lived in Chicago. I have a 15 month

old daughter running around now, so life isn't all still, but it is more

rewarding. She giggles everytime I get down on the floor to do yoga --

she thinks its play time and I can't discourage her from it so sometimes

she joins in the poses (alone or on top of me!)

I long to practice yoga by a large body of water again, as I did on the

shores of Lake Michigan. I just love yoga on the beach... it's so

calming. I plan to move to the West Coast in the next few years (near

SF) in order to practice a more natural lifestyle. It's difficult in

this area to find organic food and the air quality is very poor here.

(My sinuses are constantly inflammed and I have to take daily medication

or I'm confined to bed.) SO, my purpose, to heal myself again and to

teach my daughter the principles of simplicity and good health.

Thank you for welcoming me into your community.

Gloria

My name is Peter Beck, i'm 37 years old, and have had an interest for many

years in spiritual matters, wich i would like to put into practice now. I have

only had one experience with what i think might be kundalini, in that i felt,

what can be described as a little coiled snake/worm wiggling at the base of my

spine. This was before i knew anything about kundalini, so i just let it

wiggle until it stopped.

Hi, I'm Lainie and I have been studying Kundalini yoga since I was 17. I'm

now 40. I practice by myself and have taken classes as well. I need to get

back into a class. I live in Portland, OR. I was looking at the home page

and saw a picture of a Cobra which is my spirit animal. I never realized

the Cobra was my spirit animal even though I have dreamed and had Cobras

appear to me my entire life. I kept waiting for an animal to appear and one

day this lady came up to me and said she saw a beautiful cobra wrapped around

my spine. Then it dawned on me, duh! It all came into place and I have a

great love and respect for cobras. I always will. I am looking forward to

being on this mailing list and meeting fellow yogis. I am really going

through some rough times in my life right now but I believe in keeping up.

My yoga is the way I connect to my higher self and that needs to be my top

priority. I slip sometimes. Thanks for letting me on your mailing list.

Lainie
