Why shouldn't you concentrate on the lower ones? Just wondering - I've never been told that before, and don't recall reading it anywhere either. Guest guest
I have always heard that it is less safe to open the higher Chakras first -- one must work through and release the blocks in the lower Chakras for the energy to flow upward to the high Chakras. The lower Chakras are not less desirable or "bad" Chakras --blocks in any Chakra will cause problems, but when the Chakras are clear, and spinning the way they should the entire person is connect to earth and heaven (and themselves.) I have heard, though, that one can clear out the heart Chakra before starting on the lower Chakra since it is the gateway between the upper and lower. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. >"Kathleen Saraswati Powers" <kathleenpc > >Hi Gordon, > >My Yoga teacher says that the higher chakras open the consciousness of >selflessness, peace, and service, of unity with God and with others. This >is why they need to be opened first and this is why he recommends that his >students concentrate only on these chakras in their meditation practice. I am working from one of Yogi Bhajan's books, and the sets of exercises in it seem to be designed to open all the chakras, but gradually. I have felt my second, third and fourth chakras heating up from time to time, but I can't make it happen - I can do the same exercises on 5 occasions, and feel differently each time. No activity in my throat chakra that I have noticed, and only a little in my third eye. I need to work more at meditation, but I don't have the time right now. I spend around 50 minutes most weekday mornings, and maybe 100 minutes on a Saturday, mainly on yoga exercises. Certainly my fitness now is amazing compared to when I started, so that in itself has been worthwhile. I couldn't even touch my toes then, never mind attempt things such as the plow. Guest guest
Hello Robert and all, I've not experienced a Kundalini "rush" -- don't even know what that means -- but I've had the experience of chakras opening. My Yoga teacher teaches that we concentrate only on the chakras of the heart and above. I've felt all those chakras opening at one time or another. The Third Eye Chakra is almost always open, with a warm sensation in the middle of the forehead. During meditation or pranayama, the feeling spreads and intensifies. Lately I've been feeling the Crown chakra open, with a sensation of warmth and/or tingling in the crown of my head, accompanied with a peaceful sense of light and expansion in the middle of the head. I feel the heart center open when I pray for others, or when I'm in the presence of someone I love. The throat center opens least of all -- I'm still trying to understand that one. These sensations are usually not accompanied by anything extrodinary, just a peaceful calm. Once, though, in meditation, I felt the throat open, and I heard the sounds of the universe. I felt the Third Eye burn and open completely to allow the entire universe into my head. The sounds were so quiet that I needed all the attention there. Each sound was a distant star in the universe, and they harmonized with each other and resolved the dissonant sounds of human free will. The crown chakra burned. I suppose this was my most extraordinary experience. I'd love to hear of other people's experience with kundalini and meditation and the chakras, and their spiritual practices. Guest guest
Hi Gordon, My Yoga teacher says that the higher chakras open the consciousness of selflessness, peace, and service, of unity with God and with others. This is why they need to be opened first and this is why he recommends that his students concentrate only on these chakras in their meditation practice. It is my understanding that the lower chakras, which can bring more selfish, primitive and aggressive types of awareness, have someplace to rise and to be purified when the upper chakras are cleared through meditation and through service. This has been my understanding of his teachings as well as my experience. For more information, consult "To Know Your Self" by Swami Satchidananda. Hope this helps! Guest guest
> "Pamela" <pamela > one must work through and release the blocks in the lower Chakras for the > energy to flow upward to the high Chakras. But if the higher chakras are blocked, what becomes of the energy from the lower chakras when it tries to rise? It seems the energy would have no place safely to go. This is why my teacher advocates clearing the upper chakras first. This has also been my experience. Your suggestion about working with the heart chakra first, because it is the meeting place of the earth and heavenly energies in the body, is a perfect example of this same theory. And theory it all is -- I'm sure there are lots and lots of theories, corresponding with the many, many gurus one might meet on the path. Ultimately, each person is the best judge for themselves. Each person decides their own goals and the best way to achieve them. God sends each person the perfect guru or path of experience for meeting that individuals' goal. But it all makes for interesting discussion! Peace, Kathleen
Guest guest
Hello, about the heating sensation in the chackras, in the begining I feelt all the chackras (exceept for the crown chackra, which feels like a hole or an opening of some sort) as heated spots during yoga exercises and meditasion. But now I have started to experience the three lower chackras and the "3'rd eye" more like an energy ball, or even better like a tickeling moving energy ball (it is very hard to put in to word but this is the closest I can cum up with). I work very slow and crearfull with the kundalini, I usally just work with it in yoga exersises and some time in meditasion because I'm awere of the dangers with waking it to soon. PS! Thank you for the web adress! I will check it out! And I'm sorry for any misspells, english is not my stronges language Best Regards Robert gordon wrote: > "gordon" <gtm > > Hi Kathleen > > Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. > > >"Kathleen Saraswati Powers" <kathleenpc > > > >Hi Gordon, > > > >My Yoga teacher says that the higher chakras open the consciousness of > >selflessness, peace, and service, of unity with God and with others. Guest guest
Robert Sounds like you're doing just fine. Good luck to you - and as for your English - it sure beats the crap out of my Swedish! ;-) Ciao Gordon >Deamond <deamond > >Hello, >about the heating sensation in the chackras, >in the begining I feelt all the chackras (exceept for the crown chackra, which >feels like >a hole or an opening of some sort) as heated spots during yoga exercises and >meditasion. >But now I have started to experience the three lower chackras and the "3'rd >eye" more like >an energy ball, or even better like a tickeling moving energy ball (it is very >hard to put in to >word but this is the closest I can cum up with). > >I work very slow and crearfull with the kundalini, I usally just work with it >in yoga exersises and some >time in meditasion because I'm awere of the dangers with waking it to soon. > >PS!
