Guest guest
Hi Penelope, You wrote asking about "the specific nature of Kundalini yoga... and how it differs both in the practice and philosophy" from Hatha Yoga. I'm not a teacher and can only offer comments from my own experience. One of the ways I think about Hatha Yoga is that it seems to be more about breathing and stretching the body to facilitate limberness, etc. It has more of a focus on the body. Kundalini Yoga focuses more on moving/stretching the body in service to the energy flow. In other words, the body is moved into various positions in order to facilitate the flow of energy... It also uses mantra, mudra, breath, visualization also in service to the energy. I've moved into some incredible states of consciousness from doing a K yoga or meditation set, but don't recall that ever happening when I did Hatha yoga. a few brief comments from, Ori ori http://www.eskimo.com/~ori/ori.html
