Guest guest
Hi to all I'd just like to bring a few general points to everyone's attention. This is not a list where the owner jumps down anyone's throat the instant they step out of line - I hope! ;-) However some things can help the list to run better, look more professional and be easier to research and to read in digest form. First of all, attachments. You may notice occasionally a posting coming through with the footnote from ONElist - "attachments removed from this message". There is a reason for this. Most viruses on the Net these days hide in attachments. Because of this, ONElist have introduced an option for list owners to stop attachments being sent to their lists. I have made use of this for everyone's protection. In any case, attachments have always been excluded by ONElist from message archives and list digests. Next item is message quoting. When replying to someone, please ensure that you trim all excess message headers and trailers - just leave in the original posters name at the top, and then only quote from the part of the message to which you are referring. Do not quote an entire message and then add the footnote "I agree" - this kind of posting is frowned upon all over the Net. If a subject has changed, then change the subject header for your reply - messages running under redundant or irrelevant headings make future retrieval of archived information very difficult. To from this list you must follow the directions contained in all message trailers. The options given are the only ones that work. Posting a request to the list will not. Hint - most failures to are down to the request itself being mis-spelled! We have not had much trouble with flamers. A yogic flamer is an oxymoron! The policy has evolved here - anyone flaming is put on moderated status, and is likely to remain there for the foreseeable future. That just means that all their postings are flagged for approval before they reach the list. SPAM has also not been in evidence. SPAMMERS will receive the same treatment as flamers. You can read all this stuff and lots more in the FAQ - the most up-to-date version is always available on the Web Site (address in all message trailers. If anyone has any questions they wish to ask me over any of the above points, or anything else relating to the operation of this mailing list, please do so Off-List. You can contact me either directly - gordon or as kundaliniyoga-owner Finally, I would draw your attention to the excellent websites covering Netiquette and associated topics that are mentioned in our Web Site Links Section. You will find them in the last Links page - the one covering general topics. Enjoy the list and enjoy your Kundalini Yoga. Sat Nam! Guest guest
Gordon Fri, 6 Aug 1999 20:29:09- <snip> >message headers and trailers - just leave in the >original posters name at the top, and then only >quote from the part of the message to which you >are referring. Do not quote an entire message and >then add the footnote "I agree" This point deserves a posting all to itself. Compliance entails a bit of effort, worthy effort none the less. Gordon, thank you. I also see no reason to make a comment and then follow the comment with a posting of the entire letter that seemed to solicited the comment. What I've done up above has always been enough for me to track down the subject string's origin in its entirety should my memory fail. But then that could be an example of where my balance is (or lack there of) these days ;-) Blessed Be, Penel
