Guest guest
Dear Pam: Please read my comments slowly and carefully. ) I will attempt to make these words seem meaningful and hopeful, but some of the words might sound "critical." They are not intended that way at all, and your experience is not unusual for many Westerners, but it need not be scary, painful or cause you undue alarm. Your visual imaging of a Christ like figure is called "projection." If you create a very real image, because you have meditated or concentrated on an image (even a geometric one, such as a Mandella) then open your eyes, you will see a clear version of this thing. Your brain projects it into space. This is similar to the effect of flash bulbs going off and then you see the bright spot of light as an after image. "Persistence of Vision." What I am going to say means exactly what I say. Nothing more or less. Your thoughts command your experiences. That is everything. Pain, visions, ecstasy, joy, delight, fear, anxiety. Each quality is like a tape recording that we play...then once we play it, we can experience it or live it out as reality or fantasy. It does not matter. The labels do not matter. What is in your heart...in the center of what you are...that is all that matters. A man once went to a Lion tamer and asked him, "How on earth can you walk into that cage with a 700 pound lion?" He replied, "I am not afraid of him." The man persisted, "But what if you were afraid?" The trainer replied, "Then I would be crazy to go in there with him!" Such is the case with journeys into the self or soul. You see, no one else can go there with you and no one else is there with you...all you discover is you. And the universe... Do not be afraid. Do not meditate on things that are beyond your ability to contend with. (Christ Figures, Gurus, Heaven, Hell, these are all pretty intense and huge concepts to work on at an early or even advanced level. Start with a candle or a point of imaginary light between your eyes). Meditate on a word. A sound. A light. An idea. Remember, if you are surrounded by love and light nothing can harm you during your meditation. And, if by chance Jesus, Buddha or Mohammed walked into your room during a meditation...why be in a panic? What a delightful chance for exchanging some wonderful conversation. If it happens again, have some questions ready... Good luck...be calm... Blessings Love, Zenbob
Guest guest
I opened my eyes and saw a man standing in the room who was wearing a hooded robe. I was meditating on Christ and thought the image looked like an orthodox version of a image of Jesus. This scared me so badly that I never meditated like that again. And, to be honest, despite the positive effects to be gained from meditation, I am somewhat frightened to begin again. Especially after reading some of the posts about physical pain and other difficulties. I would rather avoid these experiences, if there is a way to protect oneself against them. I would appreciate any discussion anyone can offer. Pamela
Guest guest
Hi Pamster, When I meditated on getting out (OOBE) I heard about 2 voices. It sounded like someone shouting to me through a speaker surrounded by water. It made me jump out of my bed really quick. I was kind of afraid because I never experienced anything like it before. The next day I tried to get out but the voices ever came back. I guess I wasn't ready to hear the voices again. For me when I do anything spiritual I always have God on my mind. I know nothing bad can happen to me.
