Is "real" meditation silent without > mantras, movement or imaginations but pure awareness? I think you have chosen the best definition "pure awareness". Being totally present to and feeling in your body what IS. I would also like to add to a comment made last week. about my comment-- "becoming One" with universal energies and our own energies. When we consciously "become One" with the energies, we actually experience that we "are those energies." (Thanks for the precision.) One of the goals of meditation is to become aware of this energetic reality. When we are meditating or doing meditation exercises, is a good time to become conscious of the energies that we are holding in our body. If we feel impatient or frustrated it could be anger or fear or sadness. Getting in touch with these primal energies is very important because we must "be one" with these energies in order to be part of other universal energies. In other words, we can't skip steps. We can, but we can't stay connected unless we have integrated all the energies in our awareness and physical consciousness. TIP-There is power in negative emotions. To experience them is to experience our own power. Sat Nam, Rattana
