Guest guest
I want to learn kundalini yoga, but my mother says i am not ready to "awaken my kundalini" and that only very old wise mentally stable yogis can. I am 22, and i do have lots of problems in my life, and feel depressed but does that mean i wont be able to control myself? What is ti like to awaken kundalini? Can you really go blind? How can it help me? What if i cant concentrate or meditate, ive tried. **))^^^^((** ')),,++)soloebe(++,,))' !!--!!
Guest guest
Dear friend, This is Gabriel. I am 36 years old now, and I have had my Kundalinii awakened for 18 years. I can't see any problems except how will you awaken this power. PS: Ah, I am not blind, deaf or anything. Don't worry. - Soloebe Kundaliniyoga Monday, January 17, 2000 7:03 PM confused question Soloebe I want to learn kundalini yoga, but my mother says i am not ready to "awaken my kundalini" and that only very old wise mentally stable yogis can. Guest guest
Dear Soloebe, There is no minimum age to practice Kundalini Yoga; I've seen toddlers practice as much as they can. I have heard the phrase "awaken kundalini" but am not sure what it means. I believe different practices might have different meaning. For myself, a practitioner taught by 3HO, students of Yogi Bhajan, I haven't heard my teachers use that phrase. My teachers usually speak of healing one's body, or mind, or spirit by practicing Kundalini Yoga. They speak of having more energy, of improved relationships with oneself, with other people. They speak of raising one's consciousness, spiritual awareness, relaxation, self-knowledge. Many people find their whole attitude toward life is transformed. You mentioned that you are depressed and you have problems in life. From my personal experience, I think Kundalini Yoga is better for depression than all the psychiatrists in the world! That may not be true for everyone, but it sure is true for me. I think it helps one deal with life's problems, because if you have a calm mind and a healthy body you are much more likely to resolve life's confusions. Don't worry if you can't concentrate or meditate. Just find a class, go to class, follow the directions of the teacher. Do however much you can do. Then notice if you feel better after class than you did before. One thing I like about Kundalini Yoga, is that, no matter how scattered I might feel, and even if throughout the class, I feel "This is not doing me any good", still, if I just stay and make the attempt, I always feel that I've done something good for myself. My advice, in short, just try it. You will know if it is a good path for you to follow. At the 'worst', if you don't like it, then don't do it anymore. It certainly can do you no harm. Good luck. Let us know your experience.
