Guest guest
Hi, My name is Mary and I just signed on a few days ago and was reading through the archives. The herniated disk posts caught my eye since my husband has constant pain from the same thing. I have also had 3 surgeries for herniated disk. I have done a lot of research into this subject to avoid another surgery, and to help him, and would have to ask a couple questions of the present sufferers. Are you overweight, and what do you eat? I was told by a doctor that 10 pounds of excess body weight is like 100 pounds on the low back. So I have worked at keeping my weight down. As far as the diet, I began following the Hallelujah Diet in October to help my allergies and asthma, and lost 14 pounds in the process although I was not overweight! My allergies are better and I have stopped using the daily asthma med. If you will go to their website www.hacres.com and read testimonies, you will find people have been healed of many, many things on this diet, including herniated disk! They say you will achieve your ideal body weight and in fact I am not UNDERweight now and have stopped losing. The other thing with back problems or any health problem in my opinion is to do some kind of exercise. Walking is often recommended. I know when someone is in acute pain that's the last thing they want to do but I had my husband start by walking to the mailbox and back (we have a short driveway). The diet is completely vegetarian and mostly raw food but you will have to do some reading on the website to get a full understanding of it. Feel free to email me privately if you want to discuss off the mailing list. mensa By the way I have done hatha yoga for years off & on and it is the only form of exercise I really enjoy besides walking. I have just very recently bought a video on Ananda yoga and it brings a gentle introduction to awakening the chakras. Then I bought a book on Kundalini and am fascinated with the early results which I will post later. I am really, really determined to improve my health--I always say I want vibrant good health. Sorry this is so long but I feel this diet has changed my life and so many others. Love, Mary
