Guest guest
> ariel.blackadder Dear Ariel. The first thing I would do is quick doing shoulder stands. To do them without hurting your neck is hard. I suggest doing triangle pose instead. At least the head is down. I also bought a swing that allows me to hang upside down. I love it. Inverted postures are great for the brain. To answer Gordon's question, doing shoulder stands corrently includes having padding under the shoulders so the neck is free and there is no pressure on the neck at all. Also the hands and especially the arms must support the back so it is straight. Otherwise there will be pressure on the neck. To do so the arms must be a solid base which is created by pulling the shoulder blades and arms in toward each other. Then the arms are a real support. Also the head has to be over the body while working, walking, reading this email, etc. We usually have our head forward which strains the neck. Pull the neck back only slightly. You will feel the chest open. Also to open the chest strengthen the muscles in the back at the level of the shoulder blades and heart. Then they will support an open heart and the neck will go in place comfortably. TIP When you walk lead with your heart and not your head. Sat Nam, Rattana > > Hello everybody, > Any useful tips on a continuous pain in the neck ? > Ache where the neck joins the shoulders and in muscles below (both sides even)and an off and on headachy type pain up into brain - None of it intensly painful (I've only taking pain killers once)but irritating. I have been working past 5 minutes on shoulder stand - but have also had ongoing throat tension problems. Even encouragement to forget shoulder stands (of more than 1 minute) is welcome !
