Sat Nam,

I tried to send this before to the list, but I think it somehow got lost.

Here it is again and I apologize if you got it before.

Dear Rattana,

Thank you so much for the Ardas Baye mantra. It is as beautiful as I thought

it would be. And I don't doubt its power. I believe the answer to your

prayers is

within yourself, and this is a beautiful way to get in touch with that

reality.

Something strange and extraordinary happened to me along with my KY and

meditation practice. Now I know that if you give up your fears and

attachments, love will come to you. I won't go into too much detail. But,

for everybody who would like to try but is afraid to (I was - after all, we

all thought for so long that our wishes and fears are part of our identity),

please believe it. It is true. It really happens.

I would like to share with you my experience. Along with KY, I did a

Buddhist meditation called "the 3 day meditation for freedom from fear and

attachments". It is said to be very powerful, and combined with KY it is so

much more so. The first day you just sit down and write down a list of every

(big or little) thing that you are afraid of or feel uneasy about or you

dislike. Don't think about these things or do anything special. Just write

them down. The second day, do the same thing with the things you like or

want or wish for. The third day, you do a breathing meditation: go through

every element in your lists and say:

Beholding this, I breathe in.

Beholding my attachment / fear of this, I breathe out.

Seeing this as empty and without a self, I breathe in.

Letting go of my attachment / fear, I breathe out.

"Empty and without a self" means of course, with no identity of its own.

Don't look at things, but through them. If you do this meditation with

enough concentration, something may happen. I woke up the next morning and

everything was - gone. There is really no way to explain this. It was as if

things became transparent and all I could see across them was a vast sunrise

horizon, clear and uncluttered. It was breathtaking, it was also frightening

in a way. I was unable to do anything really for a number of days, and I

actually had a serious fit of depression for two days. But then with some

more yoga and meditation I came to a point where it is really just

beautiful... Some quite amazing things happened since, and I can still see

that vast horizon across everything. I know I will never look at the world

in the same way as before.

This may not be the great awakening, but definitely a step towards it... I

wish us all the courage and persistence to walk in the way. I just thought I

would share this with you to say that even if something quite frightening

happens, it is just your self getting closer to the Self. "The moth sees

light and walks into the fire. You should see fire and walk into light"

(Rumi). Take the step!

Peace and blessings,

Alina
