Guest guest
Dear Gururattan Kaur, Thank you for your heart touching answer about Shaktipat. I also appreciated your sharing of the story of your spiritual name. I understand it is important that one should honor their name and deliver. Having a spiritual name also makes it easier to remember all the time who you are and what you should be doing. I am not a baptized Sikh so I was wondering whether one has to become a Sikh in order to be given a spiritual name. I don't mean necessarily changing my legal name. I would like however to have something very specific to live up to and keep the faith. Thank you and blessings, Alina
Guest guest
Dear Alina, Anyone can ask Yogi Bhajan for their spiritual name. And I just happened to find the letter from Hari Kaur with the information on how to ask. > You can write to Yogi Bhajan...go on line probably at YogiBhajan.com...they > have a simple form you fill out: > > list your complete name > date of birth > time of birth > location of birth > > He then gives you your name...it could take a month or so. Yes, he is in India at this time. You could mention that you found out on this list. Let us know!! Guest guest
Gururattan- I went to the website, didn't see a form, neither did I have much time to look around though. Do you know what links to use? I got his address from the site, but I hate to use that if there is a form in there. Thank you, ~Jennifer P.S. On another note. Has anyone else noticed old issues coming to a head in the past week and suprising events coming out of nowhere? I've certainly gotten plenty of that lately, but it's keeping me on my toes. Also, from the disscusion of this list, I have decided to quit smoking marijuana for Kundalini. The price difference would be worth it, if for no other reason. I'd like to thank everyone here for there contribution (either on the list or for just tuning in and meditating, every bit helps)! With love........ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Anyone can ask Yogi Bhajan for their spiritual name. > You can write to Yogi Bhajan...go on line probably at YogiBhajan.com...they > have a simple form you fill out: > > list your complete name > date of birth > time of birth > location of birth > > He then gives you your name...it could take a month or so. Guest guest
Sat Nam, This information is correct, but I believe he also asks for the time of your birth. I haven't requested my spiritual name yet because I have to remember to check my birth certificate. Judy Sat Nam, Doria, I'd put this info in the other day, but its worth repeating. Also, I forgot to add that Yogi Bhajan needs your full birth name, your date of birth and your place of birth in order to determine your birth name. You can ask for your spiritual name by e-mailing Yogi Bhajan (you can go through his home page) or writing to him (Route 2, Box 132D, Espanola, NM 87532). It takes time to get your name back, but you will get it! I hope I have all this information correct, if not, anyone out there, feel free to correct it or add to it. Guest guest
Sat Nam, You do not need to include your time of birth when asking for a spiritual name from Yogi Bhajan. Guest guest
Thank you for the clarification. Now, since I don't need that additional information in order to receive my spiritual name, I sent an e-mail to sdharma, which is the e-mail address listed at Yogi Bhajan's home page. However, my message is not going through and I keep receiving "mailerdamons" from his address. Any suggestions from any of the members who actually received their spiritual names, other than requesting it the old fashioned way--via U.S. mail? Guest guest
Dear Judy, The address you mentioned is the one that I have used. Perhaps you should wait a couple of days for the problem to clear up. This is actually the Sikh Dharma address and they must be getting quite a lot of email for various purposes. It could be that their mailbox is full or you are sending mail in a format that their servers do not accept (HTML mail or proxy-based mail). Or of course you can write by "snail mail". It can take some time before you get the response but I found that the waiting only compounded the joy... Sat Nam, Satsang Kaur - Judith Murphy <murf7_2000 > Thank you for the clarification.
