Guest guest
Hello everyone, and thank you for your warm welcome. Welcome, William! I am quite new myself. I have noticed that many teachers quote Yogi Bhajan and make a point of mentioning that their yoga is taught in conscientious agreement with the kundalini yoga taught by Yogi Bhajan. I have respected this very highly, because it gives me a limited focus on which to learn, and I feel I am safe by taking these things on. But recently I started taking KY from a teacher who often incorporates things which I think are outside of kundalini yoga per se, and I don't know how to respond to it except to go elsewhere. For instance, she refers to deep meditation done in corpse pose as "nap time". She plays things like native american music during class and talks about psychics. Recently she led an exercise which she admitted afterward was NOT from Yogi Bhajan's teaching, but was from a spiritual guide who wrote a book about meeting one's angels. I don't want to say whether these things are "good" or not, I just don't feel like they belong in a kundalini yoga class. As I said, I am fairly new to kundalini yoga myself, so I don't know where to put this. What is your perspective? Lisa

Do they diminish the effects of the yoga? As a teacher, I greatly appreciate the teachings Yogi Bhajan has handed down to us. I know he has Recently said that we shouldn't play "new age music" during class, though I don't recall him saying why. I wonder why it is o.k. to play this type music only when stamped with the 3HO seal of approval. Does it need to be properly blended with Gurbani to make it o.k.? I would be interested in others opinions. As for "nap time"..... ...close your eyes its the end of another busy day, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of other children slept this way, With Guru Ram Das to protect them keep them safe all through the night..." (I love that song!!!) Sounds like Nap Time to me!!!! Sat Nam, John
