I was not referring to the tantric path. If I missed that point concerning the other posts, I must apologize. The validity of this path is way beyond my ability to discuss. Guest guest
Hello, Thank you all for your varied viewpoints on drugs and yoga. "You can say that drug use may facilitate the same feelings, ideas, emotions, etc. as yoga does and I can't say you are wrong; but I can say that their use is about as far removed from the practice of yoga as you can get." Tell this to the original tantrics. Now I cannot say that they were taking LSD or psilocybin, but the concept of Soma lingers closely to Aminita. I know that after a while, there were those who worked on methods to find union with the divine without its use, but there was, in antiquity, the use of highly potentized forms of entheogens. Now, I'm not saying or advocating the use for everyone or for anyone, but for those who choose to do so, they are equally valid in their practice. The drug is just another form or avenue to the "sometimes-all-consuming-passion" of reaching enlightenment. This, too, (the pursuit of enlightenment) can become an addiction. It has to be a genuine and sincere want and desire, yes, but it will come naturally if one is truely selected by God to become enlightened. True enlightenment by the human being can only come so far, after that point a deity must have their hand in it; be it Ganesh, Jesus, Krishna, a tiny mushroom, or even your own self as God. Then and only then can you become enlightened. I'm still waiting.
