Guest guest
Tammy, I love The Complete Idiots Guide to Yoga. Check It out, it suggests many exercises for the "time you have" It is a book, but it also has video suggestions. Namaste, Hilly
Guest guest
Hi I'm Tammy. I live in southern Maryland. I'm a stay at home mom to a 16 month old boy, Robbie. I've been interested in Yoga for a long time, but have never been able to find the time to devote to it. I've looked into taking classes, but at this time there are none in my area that I can attend. I do have a video that I've learned a little from (Yoga Journal's Beginners Yoga), but it's really too long for daily use (a full hour). Does anyone have any recommendations for good yoga videos that are a more reasonable length (20 minutes, half an hour)? Also, what differentiates KY yoga from other practises? Thanks! Guest guest
Rodney Yee's AM yoga is about 20 minutes, as is PM yoga.
Guest guest
I like KY as opposed to some other types because it seems more "householder friendly" to me. Didn't someone say it's 16x faster to results than hatha yoga? I was doing Iyengar, then power yoga pre-kids. No time for that anymore. I feel more energetic using KY, which is something I really need with little ones in the house. Resources: Shakti Parwha Kaur Khalsa's book _Kundalini Yoga: the Flow of Eternal Power_ has a variety of routines, many of them short, plus covers stuff you can be doing all day. As a parent, I appreciate the suggestion to take a 4min. cold shower to start the day (hey, I do that anyway! I must be a natural), the foot rub at bedtime (I do for my kids, too), etc. Gurmukh Khalsa has 2 excellent videos for prenatal and postnatal yoga...neither apply to you, but if your library has them their worth a look just to get the chanting and rhythm (burst of actvity followed by rest) of the class down. These really got me hooked on KY. I love the way incessant interruptions by babies are tolerated, and the gentle attitude. Shakta Kaur Khalsa's _Fly like a Butterfly: Yoga for Children_ might have some things youcan do with your 16 mo. old. It's a very playful book, and again, very tolerant of "do what you can, keep it positive, and tomorrow is another day", which is what moms of small children need to hear DAILY. Mostly I'm thrilled to see another mom posting to the list...I'm not into chakra meditation right now, I'm more into hoping to go to the bathroom uninterrupted. Oops, naps over, Gail

Oh, me too!!!! When my son was an infant, I had to take him to the bathroom because he was too little to be alone. This is still true during the day, but even at night when my dh is home my son gets offended by the idea that mommy wants to go potty by herself.
