Guest guest
Kristina - What beautiful thoughts! Ironically, a similar topic has hit another Yoga list - actually about Veganism - and this was my response: After posting websites for information on Veganism, some members have taken personal offense and not only slammed this compassionate lifestyle, but have called Vegans "fanatics." Allow me to define "fanatic" - a person inspired with excessive and bigoted enthusiasm, especially a religious zealot; devotee; over-enthusiastic; immoderately zealous [Webster's] If this is the true definition, then I am proud to be so labeled. But for those who feel this strongly on one end of the spectrum, there are the accusers on the other side of the spectrum. I prefer my end, and this is why... Veganism is the conscious decision to live more compassionately towards animals, to have more awareness of the environment and to give oneself the gift of better health. Whoever accused me/Vegans of being fanatics sound angry and belligerent. Originally, we all began life (as infants and in the beginning of time) as Vegans. Maybe out of some sort of necessity we moved away from it, but there are no good reasons anymore to remain un-Vegan. Conversely, there are numerous arguments in favor of returning to a Vegan lifestyle - diseases caused by diet, the eroding environment which delivers to us pollution and stress, as well as the treatment and suffering and deaths of millions of animals. There is even a fourth consideration which enters here - the oneness and closeness of our spiritual selves that ties in with all else once we incorporate a more compassionate and humane lifestyle. What some called 'eating lower on the food chain,' is actually a higher awareness of our total surroundings. How can we truly observe and practice Yoga, even Ahimsa, when our diets are full of torture, destruction, poisons and unecessary deaths to millions? I have found that debates over politics and religion receive less hatred than exhibiting my eating habits. This can be witnessed by some of the posts here on this topic. Should anyone wish to further explore and expand their curiousity of Veganism, I can/will post further websites and arguments here. Or, you can take a browse over to my discussion list which deals solely on Veganism at: //SoFlaVeganDinners Should you , I suggest doing so in the digest version since we can receive over 20 postings daily. May a more peaceful awareness enter your existence. Om Shanti FIDYL S. Fla. Live Simply So That Others May Simply Live
Guest guest
it is my belief that to each his own. we are all on the path we are supposed to be in this lifetime. perhaps we should stop throwing stones at each other and accept all as they are. everyone is different, my how boring it would be if we were all alike. i respect others beliefs and would hope others do the same for me. it is not for me to judge others that is up to a higher power. by debating your beliefs you are maybe defeating the purpose? of course that is only my opinion and i apologise for stepping on any toes. sat naam suki
Guest guest
yes I agree, throwing stones never got me anywhere. We all have our own things to fix and tend to. sat nam suki400 wrote: > it is my belief that to each his own. we are all on the path we are > supposed to be in this lifetime. perhaps we should stop throwing > stones > at each other and accept all as they are. everyone is different, my > how > boring it would be if we were all alike. i respect others beliefs and > would hope others do the same for me. it is not for me to judge others > > that is up to a higher power. by debating your beliefs you are maybe > defeating the purpose? of course that is only my opinion and i > apologise for stepping on any toes. sat naam suki > > ----- > > ----- > "OUR DESTINY IS TO BE HAPPY" > - Yogi Bhajan > > You can UNSUBSCRIBE from this list at the ONElist Member Center (My > ONElist), or send mail to > Kundaliniyoga- > NO UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST PLEASE! > WEB SITE: kundalini yoga > > KUNDALINI YOGA ON-LINE TRAINING. How else do we learn, except by listening to people who think differently? I think people on this list (most always) express themselves with respect and tolerance. I realize there is a matter of being relevant to the topic of the list, but I hope the list-owners will want to err on the side of openness. We can try to remember (I remind myself) the God in me is speaking to the God in you. Sat nam. Kartar Kaur
