Guest guest
I just looked through a Yoga Journal magazine special resource issue looking for Kundalini Yoga workshops in my area (Pacific Northwest). I noticed that Kundalini Yoga is hardly mentioned anywhere in the magazine except in a few ads. I've noticed this before. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like Kundalini is the black sheep of Yoga at least in Yoga Journal. I don't understand it because Kundalini seems like the most powerful and effective practice to me. Why would Yoga Journal ignore it? Peggy Sue
Guest guest
Peggysue, I've been a r to Yoga Journal magazine for at least two years now and truly enjoy their articles. The issue that you are referring to was the "Yoga Teacher Resource", which listed at least 500 teachers and workshops. I was looking for a KY teacher or workshop in my area and couldn't find one. I don't think it's YJ's fault that there are so few KY teachers and workshops around or that they are even ignoring it; KY is not as publizied or known to many people as some of the other yogas are. YJ magazine can change all of that if you know what I mean (ask them to write an article). > ---------- > Peggysue > Friday, May 19, 2000 12:25 PM > Kundaliniyoga > Kundalini in Yoga Journal > > I just looked through a Yoga Journal magazine special resource issue > looking for Kundalini Yoga workshops in my area (Pacific Northwest). > I noticed that Kundalini Yoga is hardly mentioned anywhere in the > magazine except in a few ads. Guest guest
good point, someone ought to do a kundalini article for YJ one reason, for lack of KY class notices, could be the cost, YJ ads are expensive, ... & that some purists of other yogic traditions misunderstand or have some fear of it as if would denigrate their traditions, i started out in hatha & got so much out of KY that i started teaching ... having a hatha backgroung faciliates learning, as many hatha poses are utilized in the kriyas.. YOGI BAHJAN encourages all students to teach ... i am one of 6 teachers, in pgh, pa , tho, none of us publish in YJ However, i was glad to see that there are KY classes offered in the upcoming YJ conf in Estes Pk , Co , this fall., oct 2-4.... several types of yoga & philosophy are offered i may attend, also, 'cause my son & his wife live in denver... sat nam <>ISIS* ATMA<> - "Peggysue" <pmcrae <Kundaliniyoga > Friday, May 19, 2000 12:25 PM Kundalini in Yoga Journal > I just looked through a Yoga Journal magazine special resource issue > looking for Kundalini Yoga workshops in my area (Pacific Northwest). > I noticed that Kundalini Yoga is hardly mentioned anywhere in the > magazine except in a few ads.
