Sat Nam,

This letter is in response to the question about the alternative to sleeping

medication and also to the lady who asked for help attaining emotional

balance after ending a longterm, long distance relationship.

I suggest for both situations a SA TA NA MA meditation. The Kirtan Kriya is

one of the best for emotional balance. It is in every one of my Kundalini

yoga and meditation manuals. The most complete explanation is in

Transitions to a Heart Centered World. It is a bit intricate to repeat

here. See www.yogatech.com if you would like to purchase any of the manuals

which have over 100 yoga sets and meditations in each one--enough for a life

time!!

Shabd Kriya which is in my manual Relax and Renew (page 118) is a bit easier

to explain so here goes.

Sit in Easy pose with a straight spine, hands in the lap, right on top of

left, thumbs touching and facing forward. Eyes focus on the tip of the

nose, slightly open.

Inhale in 4 equal parts, mentally vibrating

SA TA NA MA

Then, holding the breath, vibrate the mantra 4 more times (16 counts).

Exhale in 2 equal strokes, mentally projecting

WHA HE GURU

Continue for 15-62 minutes. Do before going to bed. Sleep will be deep and

the nerves will regenerate. After a few months, the rhythm of the breath

will be subconsciously regulated and eventually you will hear the mantra

internally. This meditation gives the mind the power to stretch to

infinity. It promotes relaxation, radiance and patience.

Do it for at least 40 days before going to bed and let us know what you

experience.

Sat Nam,

Gururattan Kaur
