Guest guest
hi folks.... i dont post too often but today i have a few questions... First, Zeta you mentioned having sciatica... my mother also has this and a herniated disk in her spine... i think that Kundalini Yoga exercises would be good for her to strengthen her spine, but she is unable to bend her left leg fully... or able to get onto the floor right now... are there any exercises you know of that could help her keep her spine in shape but not hurt her? or does anyone know of any good books or videos of KY that address back issues? also... when i sit in lotus (half or full) to meditate i notice that i tend to suck in my gut... when i realise it and release it there is a pulling sensation right bellow my ribs in the middle... feels muscular but could be diaphram.... in addition to this.. when i do spinal twist i notice this area beneath my ribs tends to cramp up, like when you drink too much water and run around you get this pain under your ribs.... does anyone know what causes this and what to do to stop it? any help appreciated.... Guest guest
For back pain, if you can't get into yoga positions, you can try reflexology. There is a point behind the ankles , between the ankle bone and the achilles tendon. massage this point also the entire bottom of the heel is for sciatic. Sometimes this area is tough and needs to be massaged with the knuckle. There is also a video called Christine Kaur's Lifeforce Yoga kundalini Stress reduction and spinal care. She has taught yoga since 1970 . She trained in the U.S. and India. It is an excellent video. Hope that any of this info may help you. AS for pain under the rib cage I also experience this once in a while and think it mght have to do with the muscles. The only thing I can do for this is gently stretch to work it out. I find that the more often I practice yoga the less often it occurs. sat naam, Suki
