Everyone takes the last name Khalsa which means the pure ones. Every woman has Kaur added which means princess. Every man had Singh which means lion or courageous one. The first names are the essence of the soul. Amrit means nector of God. I guess for women who have that name may be it is nector of the Goddess. The soul essence is beyond gender, so men and women can have the same name. Thus the Kaur and Singh distinguish the genders.
