Guest guest
Dear Friends, I would like to redefine the discussion on opening and closing the chakras. There is a hidden assumption in the current discussion that evokes apprehension and fear. That assumption is that we are not in control of our chakras. That "opening" the chakras puts us at the effect of some unknown state. This can be the case when someone else "opens" our chakras by manipulating our energy through various types of bodywork or through some energetic alignment. We allow or even request someone else to do this when we do not feel empowered to do it ourselves. When we are do not take charge of our own energy and evolution, but turn it over to someone else, we will experience fear. Fear is a natural reaction telling us that something is not right. We are being warned that it is our responsibility to take charge of our own energy and conscious evolution. I use the terms unbalanced and balanced or aligned and unaligned to refer to the different states of our chakras. I have set out a detailed explanation of these states for each of the chakras in my book Your Life Is In Your Chakras, which can be purchased at www.yogatech.com. The lifelong process of balancing and aligning our chakras is a personal process, which requires the development of awareness, attention and consciousness. We must train our minds to turn our attention to the subtle energies of each of the chakras. I think that the critical touchstone is whether we are aware or unaware. When we are unaware of what is happening in our own being, we can be open to manipulation and control by external forces. When we are aware of what is happening in our energetic body, we can be in charge of our energy, reactions and power.. When we are aware of our own energy, it is possible to be very expansive and open and still feel safe. When we are unaware, it is perhaps safer to close down. Of course, we have little power or projection when we are closed down. So "safe" is not creative, passionate or alive. In my 31 years of doing yoga-8 years of Hatha and 23 of Kundalini Yoga-I have found there is really one basic goal and that is to develop our conscious awareness of our own energy bodies. It is a complex and never ending journey. It is also rewarding, empowering and fun. There is no substitute for simply being present to the sensations in your body and being with them. Take one chakra at a time and get to know it. The chakras are our life force. The chakras contain the richness of our being. My advice is to avoid intellectualizing and sit down and be with yourself without words. The best way to get out of fear is to do the work and start enjoying the awesome beings that we are. Every issue of New Millennium Being and every lesson of KY Training cover ways to go about this process. And all of the back issues and lessons are available FREE on autoresponder. Asleep is scarey. Awake is exciting. The gift of Kundalini Yoga is that the awakening process is much easier and quicker. Even one or two exercises can balance our energy and expand your awareness. Enjoy! Guest guest
Greetings to everybody! My name is Tatyana. I've been watching this list for a couple of months, I always felt like writting myself but never knew where to start or what is the best way to describe my experiences. For last half a year I've been experiencing a lot of very amazing, different and sometimes worrisome things. After doing lots of research, I came to a conclusion (which I constantly doubt though) that I am experiencing a spontanious Kundalini awakening triggered by Holotropic Breathwork sessions which I started practicing this January. (Holotropic Breathwork was invented by Stanislav Grof as a self-exploration technique envolving altered states of consciousness using breath and evocative music) My "symptoms" include: spontaneous body trembling (seizure-like), especially when relaxing, accompanied by unrecognizable images from subconsciousness. I do feel energy flow as always described going from the bottom of the spine toward my crown chackra, also I feel waves of energy going over my body just like ocean waves: from the tips of my toes, up over my back toward the head. I never feel pain but there's a certain degree of discomfort envolved. I never feel scared of what is going on, because somewhere deep inside, much deeper then intellect, there's a knowledge that something very important is going on with me and I'm more on the right track then ever before, but... There's one thing for sure that emotionally and phcycologicly as well as just my body wasn't ready for anything like that and I feel like it's just pure raw energy overflowding me I've had one Kundalini Yoga class and it was absolutly amazing: I've never felt so calm, balanced and "with it" as after it. I had very strong feeling of energies traveling through my body. I'm now trying to find a class in my area. I would greatly appreciate any comments, suggestions or anything anybody has to say about this letter. I would also want to know how I can find a spiritual teacher where I live (Atlanta, Georgia, USA). And also if there's any KY teachers in this area you would recommend. And also any literature, tapes anything!!! Blessings and thanks to you!
