Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Thank you for your warm welcome messages. As I stated before, I started Kundalini Yoga about 6 weeks ago and love it. I plan to continue. However, I must admit that I am concerned when reading all these e-mails about the dangers of "opening the chakras" and the symptoms that can result. I am going to order a beginners book to better understand the process, but it the chakra opening sort of scares me. Janice

Hi Janice: Don't be concerned - that is, if you are practicing Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, there have, according to everything I've learned, never been any dangerous Kundalini arousal experiences with this method, which is one of the reasons I practice and teach it. It is designed to strengthen your nervous system and generally prepare you for the (ongoing) process of opening chakras, and because of this design, the opening (or Kundalini arousal, if you prefer) happens at the right pace for your particular circumstances, and so nothing unexpected or untoward will occur. The basic problem that occurs, where these dangers come from, is that people get hold of, for example, a meditation that will open your crown chakra, and immediately start practicing it every day, without doing any other work. Well, lo and behold, this meditation works, and the mere fact that you didn't prepare yourself for this by doing yoga, opening the lower chakras, strengthing the nervous system, and so forth, means that the results could be... difficult - unpleasant - painful - scary - whatever... By following the carefully designed system the Siri Singh Sahib (aka Yogi Bhajan) has shared with us, you are assured of safety and effectiveness, and a large helping of happiness. Guest guest
Hi I am new to the group and have been reading the notations made by the various members with wonder. And I decided to write when I read Susan's excited expressions when relating how she feels after opening her chakra's by using as she says "your teachings". I am moved to ask you to please advise me where I can find these "teachings" so that I can also experience the energy and harmony that she speaks of. I apologise in advance if this request comes across to those advanced learners and practitioners as being a repetitive or basic one - but I have to start somewhere and would appreciate all the advice you can give me. Thank you for your time. Charlie Peasofmynd <Peasofmynd Kundaliniyoga <Kundaliniyoga > 28 June 2000 12:54 Re: Re: (no subject) >at nam >i am so amazed and at peace!!
