> Dear Gururattan,

> Your lesson on the Nabhi Kriya for setting the navel point is excellent. My

question is this, it mentions to keep the lower back flat on the floor, but

to someone with lower back problems this proves difficult at times. What

> would you suggest?

Dear Suki,

This answer is going out to both lists. If you have not d to

KYTraining, you may wish to do so. The lessons go out to that list and

there is minimal email which relates to the lessons only.

kytraining-

The first thing to keep in mind is that the small of the back IS the navel

center. Any problems with the small of the back are problems with the navel

center, i.e. a weak back indicates a weak navel center. A basic goal in

aligning the navel center is to reverse the tendency for it to protrude,

which causes the small of the back to flex forward. The lower back

collapses when the navel center is inactive or relaxes. It is easy to

identify because the belly muscles are relaxed or flasid. We must

strengthen the abdominal muscles to have a strong navel center.

Do spinal flexes before the navel exercises to relax and release the spine.

Also rock back and forth on your spine with your hands grabbing your knees.

For those with bigger bodies, grab the upper legs, under the knees. You can

also place a folded towel under the small of your back to get the feeling of

support that you would if your back were on the ground. You will notice

that you need a thinner thickness if you to the above spinal exercises

first.

As you do the leg lifts feel the back being massaged on the ground.

Position the hands under the hips in a way to reduced the stress on the

back. As you begin to raise the legs and at the end of the lowering, the

back will naturally come off the ground some. The stronger the abdominal

muscles (which you are developing with these exercises) the more you will be

able to keep the back to the ground. The more you use your abdominal

muscles, the happier the back muscles will be.

Please let us know the results.

I am preparing a more advanced lesson on the navel center. I hope you are

all practicing lesson #7. I will make an audio tape to go with this lesson

so you will have detailed instructions to follow.

Sat Nam,

Gururattan Kaur
