Guest guest
Hi all, I have a dream and a goal to become an IKYTA certified instructor. I live in Wisconsin and their are no available classes or teacher training. I have tried to locate someone who does teacher training in Minnesota and Illinois, through the IKYTA site, with no luck. I could continue on this site in other states but I thought someone might be able to provide direction. I am searching for an ashram or ky training center that provides teacher training. I would need intensive training with a place to live while I train. I am willing to go to any place in the United States but would need total immersion 24 hours a day to fulfill my goal in a reasonable amount of time. If anyone has any recommendations or people to contact I would appreciate. Sat Nam Brian

I live in Sheboygan, which I would have posted to your personal address, but I have another question for you. I saw that you just completed a 10 month teacher training. Congratulations- you should be very Proud! Where did you do this? When you say 10 months- how much time did you spend a week/month to complete? Anything else you would share would be great. Blessings, Brian

Hi Brian: THe way I became certified is through the Master's Touch program, offered annually by 3HO in Espanola (it is going on right now). There are several advantages to this approach. First of all, Yogi Bhajan lectures every night! Which means heavy-duty meditations guided by the Master - he describes it as chiseling teachers out of the participants Plus, since you are right there, you can even meet him in person and get individual counseling - this was a wonderful experience for me, and, I'm sure, for all of us who saw him. It is two weeks of intensive training, sadhana with a group of other teachers-in-training, yoga & meditation all day long, practicums where the teacher trainers and your fellow teachers can help and direct you - I cannot begin to tell you how valuable this was for me. I have blossomed as a student and a teacher, and as a person. There is a considerable amount of follow-up work to be done at home, and naturally, having the opportunity to teach will help to solidify everything you learn there. When I returned, I called up the local Yoga Center, hoping they might let me come and teach a class from time to time. As it turned out, the Kundalini instructors at the Center (a couple) had decided to move to Hawaii, and were looking for someone to take over their classes. They listened to my glowing descriptions of my recent Master's Touch experience, and immediately offered me the chance to take over their classes. The hand of Guru Ram Das led me to the right place at the right time. May your path to teaching be equally fruitful and delightful. Guest guest
Hello Brian, If you are interested in The Master's Touch training courses but you cannot attend this year, the basic course is also available in print, with daily lectures and meditations included. It is a 300-page book called just "The Master's Touch". You could perhaps use it to prepare for the real thing itself : ) ! Guest guest
Dear Brian and Sadhant, > > I have a dream and a goal to become an IKYTA certified instructor. I definitely agree that attending the teacher's certification program in New Mexico with Yogi Bhajan is a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it. Yogi Bhajan won't be here forever and as long as he is here it is best to take advantage of being in his presence. The course is in July and will be offered next summer too. For information call 888 346-2420 or yogainfo. Also see www.3HO.org. Hari Charan is the person to talk to and you can tell her Gururattan told you to call her. I mention this program because I am sure there are other's who would also like to attend if you just knew about it. It is good to plan in advance because it costs $2000. In the meantime- DO KY and you will be guided. I am including Sadhant's comments below because we have so many new members who might like the detailed explanation Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur > > Hi Brian: > > THe way I became certified is through the Master's Touch program, > offered annually by 3HO in Espanola (it is going on right now). > There are several advantages to this approach.
