Guest guest
Sat Nam, Last week I had the oppurtunity to go the Omega Institute in New York to participate in a five day KY workshop instructed by Gurmukh Khalsa. Words cannot express the emotions, the vibrations and the oneness that I experienced during and after each class. We would get up every morning from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. to chant, meditate and do yoga (with breath of fire). As most of you know, breath of fire is difficult to do that time in the morning. Afterwards, I would feel so clean and very tuned in; my mind and my vision were razor sharp. This morning meditation was the only part of the workshop that was open to everyone on site (there were approximately 500 people on site participating in various workshops). We would come together once again from 9:00-12:00 and then from 2:30-5:00 pm. At the end of the day we would go into corpse pose to relax, meditate and feel the vibration of the gong vibrating through all of the chakras. After that we would sing this song...Gurmukh would tell us to sing it out to someone, everyone or to ourselves. This song had only four short verses but was very powerful, so powerful to the point that a lot of us would cry. I've practiced KY for two years -- just me and my Ravi Singh video tapes. And I'm here to say that for anyone who has never had the experience of practicing with a group, you're missing out on all of that extra good energy that is being shared with each other. Chills would go up my spine when we would all chant together....it's an experience that cannot be fully expressed in words, and is something that I look forward to do again. Guest guest
The Omega Institute of Holistic Studies will not be offering another KY retreat this year; but you can call them at 1-800-944-1001 and ask for their 2001 catalog . Yoga Journal will be celebrating their 25th anniversary the first week of October 2000 in Estes Park, Colorado. Some of the world's top yoga teachers will be there including Gurmukh Khalsa. She will be teaching KY during the weekend only. Call 800-561-9398 for more details.
