Guest guest
Hi Susan, With tree pose, if I can stand on one leg a few more seconds than the last time, I know I've accomplished something much more than just a yoga pose. It is a gauge of where my confidence level stands in life. If I'm not stable and grounded while standing in tree pose, I won't be balanced throughout the rest of the day either. It is amazing how yoga can straighten out the "wrong" in you and it's not just with tree pose. Yoga has to be done on a daily basis though. And, in my opinion, yoga is much more effective than any counselling can be. To answer your question about hatha yoga, I have practiced it. I do hatha now and then for some variety. I prefer kundalini though because I get better results. Thanks for reminding me about warrier pose. Maybe I'll incorporate it into my daily practice. Peace. Guest guest
Angie: I prefer kundalini too, because it is so much more powerful. Also, I have an illness which I have become convinced is nothing more than stuck energy, so I too get great results from opening up and moving my energy. But I have not been able to find a kundalini class that I like. I think because it is so powerful, that a bad teacher can actually do harm. Well, at least I know I have felt bad all three times I tried out this one teacher, giving her the benefit of the doubt the first two, until I was convinced, finally never to go back. Other teachers I've tried, while not bad, were not good either. Just nothing. I want to feel the energy moving and if I don't, I don't bother with the class. So until I find a good class, its hatha for me. I like that too anyway, but like you, would probably prefer a combination. Remember Warrior 3, not just a strengthening pose but also a balancing pose. That should really help you gauge your confidence level while at the same time lifting it. Are we crazy, or is yoga really the secret to mental health (if not life)? I agree: it beats therapy! Concerning the thread about melatonin, that stuff is eViL!!! That's the worst 'natural' supplement I've ever taken. It gave me really bad depression problems. Of course our bodies are all different. It maybe great for one, but for me... no way. I wouldn't take that stuff again if you paid me. Blah! (I mean no disrespect to the person who brought it up, really!) Take care everyone! Guest guest
I felt bad physically. Sore and achey. There was definitely not enough going on inside me to stir up an emotional release. Also, that teacher has an emotionally troublesome history. That's fine, as many people do. More power to her for having overcome it, for the most part. When she teaches the power yoga class I take with her, her rejuvenated self comes across and her energy is great. But when she teaches Kundalini, I get an almost depressing vibe from her. Its very subtle and I'm sure she doesn't know it, but one can hardly control the energy they emit. More importantly, if she's releasing toxins, I doubt she'd want to change that. But it has a negative effect on me as the student. But more so, I just don't feel the energy in my own body. Am I wrong to expect to actually feel the dynamic energy within me whenever I do KY? Maybe my first teacher spoiled me, but in her class, it was never subtle. Not only would I feel the energy moving within me from each pose, I would see it too. At the end of each pose, when I would close my eyes and breathe, I would see different colors. That is, one color at a time, but it would vary from pose to pose, I guess depending upon which chakra we were working. Is that strange? I know the key to KY is to not expect anything, but just observe what's there, so maybe I'm being counter-productive with the expectations I've come to have, but I look at it like anything else. Once you've experienced it the right way, don't you then know better when its wrong? And its not that its just different; its more nothing. -Susan
Guest guest
I couldnt agree more. Its amazing how different I feel when take some off from Yoga (I feel so bad when I dont do it). Then I notice that I dont wanna do yoga because I feel bad, then I realize I feel bad because I havent done my yoga. --- drums1018 wrote: > >>>I think because it is so powerful, that a bad > teacher can actually do > harm.
