Guest guest
Am fairly new at KY. Went to class for 3 months 3-5 times a week. Loved it. Due to travel schedule, have been unable to go for 10 days and now getting back in the swing of going to class has been a challenge. Any tips on getting back on track? #2 question: also I notice my thoughts during class. Today doing the cobra pose. I was saying to myself. "Oh, I hate that one. This is really hard." What do I do to get control of my thoughts and stop the negativity w/some of the poses? I feel great after class. It's during class when i am not enjoying the experience. Thanks. Guest guest
Sat Nam Jerry! > getting back in the swing of going to class has been a challenge. Just be patient with yourself. The best thing you can do for this problem in general is to begin a daily practice of your own, so that returning to class doesn't seem like a big change. A daily practice doesn't have to be a big deal - there are short kriyas that can be done in 15-20 minutes - with a short meditation, just a half a hour of practice is enough to keep you in the swing of things all the time. You know how good you feel after class - why not feel that good every day? >What do I do to get control of my thoughts and stop the negativity A very helpful technique is to focus on the basic KY mantra, "Sat Nam". Think "Sat" on the inhale, "Nam" on the exhale. This even works with breath of fire - you just have to think quickly Many blessings, Sadhant
Guest guest
Sat Nam, > >What do I do to get control of my thoughts and stop the negativity > > A very helpful technique is to focus on the basic KY mantra, "Sat > Nam". Also feel the sensations in your body. The more your mind is preoccupied with what is going on in your body at the moment, the less it will have the opportunity to think other thoughts. The mind must be busy all the time, it is up to us to give it something else to do. The best use especially during yoga is to be present to what is going on in the moment. Often we do not like what we feel in the moment, so we escape to our thoughts. This is a stage we have to be willing to go through. We get our power by being present to our own energy in our body, feeling our feelings and emotions (non-verbal) and experiencing all that is happening within us. Concentrating on the breath in the body and a mantra help us be present without so much pain or tendency to try to escape. I think it was Swami Sivananda who said; If you want to control your mind, do not do what your mind wants to do, and do what your mind does not want to do.
