Guest guest
Dear friends: A gentleman wrote me "off-line" and said that all the KY practitioners he had met were Sikhs, and wanted to know if, indeed, we were all Sikhs. He went on to say that, although many of the lifestyle choices, such as vegetarianism, were appealing to him, he doesn't feel ready, at least at the moment, to take on all the things that Sikhs do, such as the clothing. I thought this question might be very relevant to the thoughts of others on the list, so I'm posting my response to him. There are many KY practitioners who are not Sikhs (I am not, for example). 3HO, the organization behind KY, is the secular "arm" of KY, and they help spread all the information about the lifestyle, as well as sponsoring events like White Tantrics, Solstice, Master's Touch, et. (seee www.3ho.org). American Sikhs practice every aspect of the KY lifestyles, but of course many people feel as you and I do - we like KY, we appreciate and practice many of the lifestyle choices, but not all of them - or at least, not right now. The Sikhs I know are very supportive of people who aren't interested in adopting the whole Sikh lifestyle - they always tell me to take on exactly what I am comfortable in doing right now, and that no matter what, I am part of the community. You too, are part of the community. Love to all! Sadhant
