Lilith...where did you get these stats! Come on now..."westerners take drugs for 95% awareness in eastern religion." This is a very s t r e t c h e d statement. I am aware and partake in many diverse groups practicing various forms of eastern religions and traditions:::: most of whom have participated in NO drug experience, their altered states came from meditation(s)...prayer...yoga....a true body-mind. Just my few cents worth. I too have never had a drug experience to reach any level of enlightenment. I do know several people who use drugs; however, they are not committed to any path of eastern religion. I would say about 80%, though after becoming 'awakened' (I know it sounds corny) they are strong advocates against the drug use. Myself and I lot of my friends went through mental illness on the path. The drugs cloud the mind, they cause delusions and may open a channel to something that you don't want. But they will help to open you up, everything is in intoxicant in some form or another, everything has an effect upon the body, the mind and the soul. Like was mentioned before, mantra, starvation etc. all can help to open you up to the world outside. I am not supporting drug use, I strongly steer people with spiritual intentions away from it, but alot of the people you become spiritual people start off with no idea or intention or saying it is stupid and pointless. The drugs expand their mind, quickly too. Well I am rambling so I'll stop. Steve
Guest guest
I am wondering what, if anything, I can do to keep my left foot awake while sitting for an extended period of time. The tingling and mild discomfort from the foot falling asleep is distracting during chanting/etc. Happens almost every day while doing kundalini yoga. I usually stretch my leg out until it wakes up again, then resume a modified tailor seat position. I sit on a cushion (to help me keep my spine straight). With appreciation, Sheri
