Guest guest
I only joined this group last week, so please understand all this is very new to me and I will probably have many questions. I had an interesting experience and wanted to know if others have felt the same thing: - Last Wednesday night, for the first time, I chanted ONG NAMO GURU DEV NAMO for about 11 minutes. I felt a comfortable tingling sensation around the crown of my head. - Last Thursday night, I practiced the spinal flexibility set that I found on Gururattan's superb kundaliniyoga website. Again, the same tingling sensation, but more intense (I will explain in more detail below). - Friday morning, as I drove in to work, I was chanting ONG NAMO GURU DEV NAMO for about 5 minutes. Again, the tingling, although not as strong. On Thursday night, as I experienced this, I was able to analyze it/visualize it, perhaps in an attempt to understand it. It felt like tiny, tingling bubbles of energy on the left and right sides at the crown of my head, seemingly just beneath the skull. I had this feeling that the "bubbles" were merging/converging from left and right and were aiming/attempting to exit my head through some sort of opening or fissure at the very top of my crown, to flow outward gently like in an aura. It was a pleasant, calming, and profoundly serene experience, but one I had never felt before. I was content just to sit there, fully in the moment. Can one of you tell me what this was all about? It certainly was a positive and pleasant feeling. But this is all very new to me. Help me understand what this means. Greetings and blessings to all. Guest guest
Dear Inti, Concerning your experience -- tingling sensation around the crown of my head. It felt like tiny, tingling bubbles of energy on the left and right sides at the crown of my head, seemingly just beneath the skull. I had this > feeling that the "bubbles" were merging/converging from left and right and were aiming/attempting to exit my head through some sort of opening or fissure at the very top of my crown, to flow outward gently like in an aura. Sounds like a a classis description of rising kundalini and open of the crown chakra as depicted in many art pieces. > It was a pleasant, calming, and profoundly serene experience, but one I had never felt before. I was content just to sit there, fully in the moment. > Can one of you tell me what this was all about? Sounds like your crown chakra is opening up. This is the chakra on the top of the head. This happens when the ida and the pingala both open up. They are nerve centers in the spine. The pingala is the solar nerve on the right side of the spine. Its opening creates a warming and even hot sensation. The ida is the lunar nerve on the left side of the spine which creates a cooling sensation. When both open up then the sushmana or center nerve opens and our energy stabilizes and we experience bliss. Someone wrote last week or so about having a cooling experience in the spine. This is the ida nerve opening up. It is good to have both experiences because that creates balance. With the practice of KY the body will open the nerves as appropriate. If, however, you experience too much heat or too much coolness, you can concentrate on the other side of the spine. Or you can do grounding excercises to stimulate the ida and rootlock and Sat Kriya for example to stimulate the pingala. It is good to understand. It is great to have the experience. Indulge in the bliss while it lasts Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
