Guest guest
Sat Nam friends: Many people find that they actually need less sleep when they practice yoga regularly. In part this is because we are more relaxed, and slip more easily into the actual restful stage of sleeping. Another reason is that part of the purpose of sleep is to clear the subconscious mind - since we are meditating regularly, which does that more effectively, we have less need for that aspect of sleep. Here are some things that are helpful if you are having trouble sleeping. Wash your feet in cold water (I find this one particularly helpful). Comb your hair back and forth with a wooden comb (wood doesn't alter the energetic characteristic of hair the way plastic does). Block off the right nostril and breath long deep breaths through the left nostril, the calming, lunar side. Giving yourself a foot massage before bed is a recommended practice, and I find it definitely helps me to sleep. Getting sufficient exercise during the day is very important, too (yoga practitioners are encouraged to walk 3-5 miles a day). Guest guest
I take melatonin and find it perfect for my sleeping needs. I take hypericum also.. I'd like to ask a couple of questions about sleeping(turya?). Would it be possible to reach a single state of couscience where we don't need to sleep ?
