Guest guest
I have been experiencing some strong energy, which cause many strong emotions. I was wondering how is this related to my KY experience, and what things I can do to help it. One of the strong energies I have problems with is uncontrolled sex energy, with this I get mad frustrated, and sometimes feel wrong for having it. I don't know where this is taking me, if it's good, or bad. I find myself getting in to fights with people around me and people I love, to finely realize I was being run by sexually strong feelings, and feeling I have no right or power to satisfy or be in charge of them. Could some one please say something that might help me understand what I am going through. Thank you Nancy
Guest guest
Dear Nancy: One of the things you are noticing is that the automatic programs, the "tapes" of societal conditioning of the mind & body are in control much of the time, as is true for most of us. The practice of yoga at first awakens your awareness of these programs and with time & practice, puts you in control of your mind/body, instead of being controlled by them. It is quite normal, particularly when we are beginning a KY practice, to stir up a lot of energy and emotion. Of course sexuality one of the main wellsprings of energy in our system, and there is nothing wrong with this energy. It is part of what we are, part of what makes us human - but it is such a powerful source of energy that we often have trouble coping with it, especially when we are releasing energy and opening up blocked energy channels (nadis, meridians) and chakras as is normal in the early stages of our practice. This is one of the many reasons that the practice of Sat Kriya is recommended - in fact, Sat Kriya is considered the most fundamental practice in KY. YB has said that if we have time for nothing else, we should at least practice this regularly. Sat Kriya (among other benefits) helps to give us control of the sexual impulse and rechannels the energy to creative and healing uses. Be cautious about building up the time of practice of this kriya, it is very powerful and must be respected. Also, always relax afterwards, ideally for twice as long as your practice. You can find a description of Sat Kriya in most KY books - for example, Gururattan's Intro to KY. It is also part of many longer kriyas, such as the basic spinal energy series which can be found at her website: http://www.kundaliniyoga.org Many blessings, Sadhant
