Guest guest
i have been trying to practice on my own, but i haven't gotten th same energy from it, and i don't have the same discipline; i am a complete beginner, albeit a very excited beginner, and i don't know a whole lot, so i rely on videos and class to teach me what to do (although i have been able to take advantage of some very wonderful books.) it's just been a while since my last class and i feel an energy drain. I think i might have a throat chakra block, which has manifested itself in a painful boil right on top of my voicebox. ow. when i visualize myself in my head, there is something blocking me up between my head and the rest of my body. any recommendations for some sets? also--is the ordering section of yogatech down? i have been trying to order all day with no luck. sat nam and love-- jessie ______________________________\ _____ Get more from the Web. Guest guest
Hi Jessie I have checked out the site today and it appears to be working ok. Other orders were being processed yesterday, so I don't know why you were having problems. Could you please mail me off-list (gordon) and give me more details of what was happening. Also send me your phone number and we can organize your books that way if you prefer. To everyone else, if you ever experience problems with the site and/or the online shop, please mail me and let me know, as often it is such reports that alert us and enable us to take early steps to fix whatever has gone wrong. Sat Nam! Gordon > also--is the ordering section of yogatech down? i have been trying to order > all day with no luck.
Guest guest
Dear Jessie: Of course a group of people practicing will naturally have a great level of energy that we tap into, but developing the discipline for your own personal practice will pay off in many ways. One thing to keep in mind is that discipline is something that we develop with practice, like strength, flexibility, and so forth. I think that the key is to commit to doing something every day. Whatever you commit to must be something that you have no problem doing every day. You could start with something as simple as 3 minutes of Sat Kriya - even though this doesn't seem like much, it will have significant benefit. You can always do more when your energy levels permits, but by remembering that your only commitment is that 3 minutes, you should have no problem maintaining this, and so never get into a negative feedback cycle that can result from trying to do too much. Over time, you can add to this - say a simple kriya that takes 15 minutes at the minimum times. Again, any time you feel up to it, you can do more time in the asanas, or add to your time in meditation, but can always just do the minimum and know that you are keeping up your commitment. By being patient and gradual in this fashion, you will grow your level of discipline in a way that never exceeds your current ability, maintaining a positive feedback cycle and continuing to improve at a comfortable pace. It seems quite likely that you are blocked at the 5th chakra, as you suggest. There are a number of things that are helpful, such as fearlessly speaking your truth, listening to yourself and not to others - and listening to others with detachment. Chanted meditations will be especially helpful with this blockage, for example, long Sat Nams (Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat Nam) for 3-11 minutes, and Kirtan Kriya (aka the Sa Ta Na Ma meditation) - of course there are many chanted meditations, and if one in particular speaks to you, follow your intuition. Listen to the sound of your chants, feel yourself vibrating along with the vibration of the mantra, and keep reminding yourself to maintain the neck lock (slightly pulling in the chin to straighten the neck). Before chanting do spinal flexes, spinal twists, shoulder shrugs, and neck rolls to prepare the body to receive and vibrate with your chanting. All love surround you, Sadhant
