Guest guest
Does anyone know any meditations or postures that help hearing impairment? Just along shot, but...
Guest guest
Very helpful. The impairment in question is menengitis related, so I'm not sure about some of your suggestions helping, but I will follow up, for sure. Blood flow to the head, for instance, certainly couldn't hurt. Thanks. Sat Nam, Susan
Guest guest
Yogi Bhajan's book 'Specific Healing Applications of Kundalini Yoga' has a few exercises to help hearing and prevent aggravation. You can get the book through Golden Temple. It also has exercises for meningitis so it might be helpful. If you need me to email or post the exercises I would be happy to do so. Please let me know. Yes, it would be wonderful if you would post the exercises. I would greatly appreciate that, as I am on a very tight budget and am just seeking help for a student of mine who is hearing impaired from menengitis and asked if I knew of anything. Thank you so much. Sat Nam, Susan
Guest guest
Sat Nam: I haven't run across any yoga that specifies hearing improvement, but depending on the source of the impairment, the asanas that improve blood circulation to the head (like cat-cow) might be helpful. I recently read an article about dietary supplements that help with certain types of hearing loss, including age-related (presbycusis), vascular impairment, Meniere's disease, and otosclerosis. The supplement that shows the greatest benefit is vinpocetine (extracted from Madagascar periwinkle) - other things that are beneficial include magnesium and Vitamin D (cochlear deafness can be caused by deficiency of Vitamin D). DHEA can help reduce otosclerosis, as well. FYI, antibiotics, aspirin and diuretics can potentiate the activity of ototxins (such as free radicals). Vinpocetine helps prevent damage from ototoxins. Guest guest
Sat Nam, y mother (85) recently went to a healing clinic where cleansing was the focus of the program. When she got back her hearing was greatly improved and she doesn't say "What?" all the time now. Also ear candels help.
