Guest guest
Dear Friends: I need your help with a delimma. I'm on another list where the comment was made that Yogi Bhajan was at Woodstock and is the guru in the movie made about the experience. Another member of this same list strongly believes that Sri Swami Satchidananda was the yogi who opened Woodstock. Their site: http://www.yogaville.org Sri Swami Satchidananda is the founder of the worldwide Integral Yoga Institute. I've tried sending an e-mail to ask, but it doesn't work with my setup, or some such. They're located in Virginia. I've looked at most of the pages on this site and see nothing about kundalini yoga or 3HO, so they must be doing their own thing and that's ok. The point is this: I've been told that Yogi Bhajan, Siri Singh Sahib, was at Woodstock and it was while at Woodstock that he wrote the song, "May the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the pure light within you guide your way on." So, what I need clarified is: who exactly was at Woodstock; did Yogi Bhajan write the song? How can this be researched? I don't want to believe something based on opinion, but on fact. Sri Swami Satchidananda says he was at Woodstock on his website. I am certain that the other person feels stongly about this. Please help me sort this out. The truth is important. Thank you so much. Respectfully and in peace, Nancy
Guest guest
Re: "Long Time Sun" I heard Gurmukh Kaur mention at the Fall Yoga festival in Millis in 1999 that it was popularised by a celtic/folk/rock group The Incredible String Band... (i have yet to find this recording) but i have a feeling this is an old Blessing/proverb perhaps Irish or Middle Eastern.... i dont think they wrote it.... Guest guest
Dear Nancy, Yogi Bhajan was definitely at Woodstock. We have pictures of him teachng there is the rain. Sri Swami Satchidananda could have well been the yogi who opened Woodstock. Yogi Bhajan did not write the song, "May the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the > pure light within you guide your way on." Someone else will know who did. It was a popular group at the time. Yogi Bhajan has us sing it to keep the spirit created at Woodstock alive and to bless all those who died and sacrificed so we might live in the light today. Guest guest
Hi, it was Sri Swami Satchidananda, at least according to the website: (http://www.integralyogaofnewyork.org/About_IYI/Founder/founder.html). I've been to classes at the Integral Yoga institute, which he founded, and they're good - the hatha yoga classes aren't as good as others I've attended, but they do have a whole range of various classes (using the chakras to write, was one of them that was particularly good). Namaste, Reuben
Guest guest
Hello....... This is an Irish blessing. I am 99.9% sure of that. My sister-in-law, who is quite Irish, has a few Irish blessings around her home and this is one that I believe I saw while I was there. ) kelly mitchell Media Principia-Ex-centris Montreal,Quebec www.ex-centris.com <http://www.ex-centris.com> LadyOStars [LadyOStars] Sunday, December 03, 2000 8:18 PM Kundaliniyoga Re: Woodstock Guru Re: "Long Time Sun" I heard Gurmukh Kaur mention at the Fall Yoga festival in Millis in 1999 that it was popularised by a celtic/folk/rock group The Incredible String Band...
