Guest guest
Dear Gururattan > >BTW, some of our rs will not be familiar with what we are talking >about. The locks or bhandas are explained on www.kundaliniyoga.org and in >one of the KYT lessons. And Mike might like to explain his understanding >of >the diaphragm lock. Thanks for the invitation to clarify. BTW the booklet I have is an old one called 'Introduction to Kundalini Yoga' - and I've just realised that you might be the author! As you say, the locks - typically Mula and uddiyana bandha- are often combined with pranayama, but Uddiyana can be done by itself, most easily by standing, resting handson thighs exhaling strongly, and holding the breath out. The abdomen can then be contacted deeply, with a cavity appearing below the ribs. A pumping can be done, around 1 per sec or slightly faster. (important not to eat close to this ). Typically, one might work up to 10, 20 contactions per exhale, and do several exhales. The muscles and coordination soon develope, and it is powerful. This practice is done in several styles of yoga, and I was interested in how it is used in kundalini yoga. ...I'm quite happy to use my intuition Initially, 3 mins is fine for me Thanks - with smiles - Mike ______________________________\ _____ Get more from the Web. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I just wanted to add that I do this every morning before my shower. It is best done on an empty stomach. Really give the internal organs a good morning stretch and exercise.
